Hi All,

You have seen things regarding the update from me for a while now. I will be upgrading the forum this weekend to the newest version of the software.

Please bare in mind the following things:

• This is not a small upgrade and will take me a good few hours to process through before I can put the site back online
• When the site comes back online, there will be bits of issues here and there which I will still be addressing
• There will be items which will not return instantly on the site. They will return eventually but some of these are still being written.

When you do come back online, you will need to log in with your display name or email address. If you are not sure on your passwords etc, then now would be a good time to change or reset your password so that you know what it is when we return.

If you know nothing about the upgrade, first of all where have you been? LOL, secondly you can find out about it here

We will be offline from at some point Saturday morning UK time.

Some of you will already know about this if you are site sponsors, but time to let everyone else in on it now There will soon be a site upgrade coming along to the site. There has been little updating on the site for a good while now, the site has become somewhat quieter of late, but all of this is about to change.

No idea what you are talking about. What is it?

At present we are using the 3.4 series of invisions IP.Board along with other applications. Earlier this year there was a new version released of this software which is a large upgrade (in fact it is a complete rewrite from the ground up). I will be upgrading us to this version which will give us more flexability over what can be done on the site and means I can start moving toward giving some new features.

What am I going to see? Is it a big change?

The answer to this is yes, most certainly. However you should find that things are familiar due to it being written by the same company. You will find some functions will actually become easier to use on the site such as mentioning other members which will be done in a very similar fashion to how you do it on facebook with a simple @ symbol prefixing a name.

I've been here long enough now. What are we going to lose?

With every major upgrade it means that some applications and functions that we use, specifically ones which are written by 3rd party providers, have to be rewritten. As some of these are quite large there are some which have not yet been written for the new software such as membermap. I have however looked to ensure we have key features available before we upgrade so that things such as the recent topics at the top, the chat bar, tapatalk etc are all available from day one.

So, what will we gain?

Will give a basic list. Some when we go live with it and some which will come later

• @mention to mention people in posts
• Map locations on calender entries for meets
• Live editor, so when you post a youtube video for example it will show as soon as the link is entered
• Drag images to attach
• Responsive design, so the site will change and scale the smaller your device gets. The main skin will also be the tablet skin and mobile skin so you will have more functionality on mobile
• Posts are automatically saved. If you move to another page and come back to finish your post, it will still be there where you left off
• You will be able to follow each content on your own basis. So if you want to follow something but not recieve an email for that particular post you can do this direct from the post
• Recurring calender entries for regular items
• Sending a message to someone will show in a popup rather than moving you away from the page you are viewing
• Adding a link to another topic will automatically change this to a link showing the information and a preview
• You can add a wall image to the top of your profile
• Friends system has been removed, however now you can follow members which is more useful
• Faster browsing
• Event gallery meaning if you add a calender event you can then add the images direct to that event afterward
• Husky weight tracker
• Profiles for your huskies

When will all this happen?

I have no exact date as of yet, however this is now purely because I need to set the time aside to get it done. I would expect by the same time next month we will have upgraded to the new software. As this is a large upgrade it is likely to be almost a full day that the site is down whilst it is being worked on.

Im a windows dev so I have to be up on them whether I like it or not lol. Had windows 10 for a few month now and its nice

Thought something was worth a mention about camp. One of the things that has been mentioned by some in the past (albeit not by many to be honest) is they wanted to do something rather than hang about around camp. So thought I would just show the itinerary of Husky Camp 2015.

Friday - Set up camp. A massive task itself and almost nobody wants to do anything when they first arrive. Late night however as always with adult pass the parcel and drinks;)

Saturday - Husky meet at Aber Falls. Gorgeous walk about 45 min away from main camp. 

Sunday - Husky meet at Happy Valley in Llandudno

Monday - We hired an off lead area where everyone can let their dogs off in a fully enclosed undercover area. Great regardless of the weather

Tuesday - Husky Beach Walk, trip to longest zip wire in europe for some, trip to play golf for others

Wednesday - Rest day for all. Fun dog show. Raffle at night.

Thursday - Husky meet at Slate museum. All dog friendly. - Dismantle some of camp and return to storage.

Friday - Pack up, go home

These are headliners off the top of my head that I can think of. There is likely so much more I missed.

Can only really echo the above. Excellent camp. Good to see some of you again, and good to meet some first timers (probably not last timers lol).

Considering things I have heard from pet Facebook group members claiming to know about 'huskies', pet forums would not be something I would consider an ideal resource.

You basically just said all your posts are pointless.

Now before you jump on that, you said that forums are not an ideal resource, yet you are giving people advise on a forum. Therefore you are actually calling your own information "not something I would call an ideal resource". There are many people on here alone which learn a lot of valuable information, myself included. 

Nah, just the fact it says "warning points" under my local time. Not a big deal

Yup, says there are 0 which means you have never been warned. Reason that it is showing at present is a bug. Essentially because there has been a warning on your account and its been removed since it is still showing for some reason when it should be suppressed.

so, the next logical question will be why was you ever warned. Simple really, I was testing something and needed to apply a warning to see if it was working. I picked an account at random of someone that if they happened to see it within that 10 seconds of it being there wasnt likely to pull my head off my shoulders LOL

Gonna look at the bug of why its showing when there are 0 at some point, but wont be until after camp.

Stop picking on Marc
