  1. No camp tent banned by Ty Mawr, they have decided they are no longer having pitching tents on Ty Mawr but they was quick to take our money without telling us we found out on facebook.

After a couple of calls to head office to conferme its right from now on there will be no more main camp meeting place, we only found out about this last night and are still working out what to do.

If anyone was coming and camping in a tent ring and get your money back.

NOTE: This doesnt affect touring vans etc. Its just tents

    It's an official husky what?

For nearly a decade now, we have been running an official husky camp for our forum members. This is a chance for people to get to meet in person, and for many a holiday that is easier to do with the dogs. This is done in a way that both people and huskies can enjoy. It was started originally as a way to get around it being difficult to have a holiday with dogs, and make it easier to enjoy due to everyone around you also having dogs of their own.

    When is it?

Husky camp for 2022 will run from Friday 13th-20th May (Friday to Friday)

    Where is it?

The Meadows (this is the field we are generally on, but just ask for where the husky group is staying)
    Ty Mawr Holiday Park

    Conwy
    LL2 9HG

    What about covid?

As much as I wish we had control over this, clearly we don't. I will be adding things related to this at a later point in time, but for now just bear in mind that we have no control (obviously) over what the government decide. We have been restricted on this for 2 years now, and there is nothing to say we wont be next year. Currently there are covid passports required for some events and for nightclubs. Last week that didnt exist. I suspect we will be fine by then, but just bear it in mind.

Obviously (or I certainly hope it is) if someone has covid, you would need to remove yourself from camp. If you have it before, you would be expected not to attend. I hope however that this is pretty obvious.

    How do I book?

You can book through their website, which is here
    https://www.parkdeanresorts.co.uk/location/wales/ty-mawr/

Ring this number to book for some reason the website is playing up there are caravans available 01745832079 (Let them know you want The Meadows Field if you are camping. )

LET ME KNOW ONCE YOU HAVE BOOKED, AND CAN ADD YOUR NAME TO THE LIST :)

Is it just like a 'dog convention' type thing?

Far from it LOL. Whenever I explain to people what husky camp is, in the shortest amount of words possible, it tends to be this. We go for walks and stuff during the day, enjoy food together, and generally have a good drink at night. We're about as far from being some boring convention as you could possibly get LOL.

Are there many of you go? Am I welcome? Can I bring my partner etc

We have had as many as 130 people at camp, and as little as 10. As you can see from that alone, the numbers can vary wildly. No need to ask if you are welcome at camp! Of course you are welcome! partners etc also welcome. All we ask is that you are responsible for the people that you bring (we are respected for being a good set of people, who are clean and tidy at camp, and don't cause trouble),  adhere to camp rules, and generally don't give the site a bad name.

    What facilities are there?

    • Electric hook up
    • Static caravan hire or camping
    • Shower and toilet blocks
    • Eating places on and around camp
    • Swimming pool
    • Play area for the kids if you have any
    • Wifi on site

Where do you walk? What do you do?

Just to give you a very brief idea of the kinds of things we do, based on years gone by. Some of which we do each year (of course not all).

    • Beach walk
    • Alyn Waters walk
    • Talacre point walk
    • Llandudno walk along the front
    • Aber falls
    • Newborough Forest - Anglesea
    • Pensarn beach
    • Conwy Castle / Conwy walk
    • Sun Set walk
    • Secure offload where all the dogs can be set free to let off some energy
    • Meal over at the local restaurant
    • BBQs done by Barry (small charge to cover costs between us)
    • Breakfasts done by Dunc & Andy (small charge to cover costs between us)
    • Camp fire and drinks at night
    • Adult style pass the parcel (Yes, this really happens, and it hilarious!)

Added a few pics here for people who haven't been before, to give you an idea. And also a video of the offlead, which is always fun

Nice monitor really want one of those instead of 2 screens…

Thats why I  bought it. There is an advantage to having multiple screens instead, but for the most part, this is better lol

  4. Its funny, as some of the reasons you state there are actually the reasons I use a mac. Cost effectiveness for starters. My iMac costs less than I would have spent on a PC. I would have added things to a PC, and it would have been replaced within a couple of years. With the iMac I have now, its 3 years old and I 'may' replace it next year. On top of that, I've actually challenged people before now to build a PC from decent components with the same spec, for the same price. More often than not, they cant. I appreciate the iMac is however unique in that. For the most parts macs are indeed more expensive. Longevity I have just covered. Expansion is actually another reason I prefer it. I dont want to be messing with my computer. I want to switch it on, and for it to work. Nothing more, nothing less. Can fully appreciate that if you do want to mess with them, then a mac ain't for you.

itunes sucks. I use spotify. Incidentally so does the microsoft equivalent (hold up, there isnt one)
Safari also sucks, I use Chrome. Incidentally however, so does edge.

All I need is just something to edit and maintain my 1m+ photos, edit videos, play my music, watch the occasional film, accounts, print/communicate with old systems/printers/screens, etc

Which of these do you think you cant do with a mac? LOL

If you think Microsoft is more ethical by the way, that is plain false. Most large organisations are the same in that respect. Microsoft sell software, and its also ridiculously expensive. The tax side of it,  they actually do exactly the same as apple (in fact they both tax out of ireland to avoid UK taxation). The way of the world unfortunately.

Always going to be a good debate. Personally, I'm one of the very few people who are happy to use either. I'm a mac user, and a microsoft developer. Go figure LOL

Agreed about the tinkering part. I like to build my own gaming computer so I have a PC, although it has been quite a few years since I last upgraded anything because I just don't have time to play games any more... A lot of Apple fans like to use words like "easy to use" or "intuitive", but at my tech level (I'm in health IT) and at this stage in my life they are all pretty easy for me.

Same here. I'm a software developer. However in the same respect I also use the phrase intuitive. It's not so much about not having the ability to find out how to do something on a computer, but more about not wanting to. I don't want to make my PC faster, or switch the way in which I view explorer, change the theme for my taskbar, install x product to do y. I want to use my computer for what I switched the damn thing on for. So if I want to take a screenshot, add an annotation to it with an arrow pointing something out, then want to send it to someone over email, I want to just go ahead and do that from one place. I really dont want to open snipping tool, take a screenshot from there instead, anotate and add my arrow, then save it somewhere, then open my email, then start a new email, then attach the item, then send it. (windows). What I actually want to do is press a couple of buttons on my keyboard, select the area I want to screenshot, add the anotation and arrow in the window it just helpfully opened for me, then click share to email, add an email address, and go. (mac). Thats just one really simple example.

The "trapped" thing is my boss's complaints, paraphrased. He's been complaining for years about his photos and music but never switched away from Apple. I never bothered to ask how he's trying to get his photos and music out and how it's not working for him; he mentioned something along the lines of Apple deleting his files or some such. Could just be him, though.

The only thing this could be is if he is using itunes. If thats the case, he just gets a windows PC, installs itunes, and all his music is there. With regards photos, that would happen regardless of what machine he is using. He would have to move them over to the windows machine.

But he's most definitely struggling with Mac Mail. It refuses to use a lot of outgoing servers and deletes his emails randomly. They're important work emails too.

This I agree with. Mac mail is shit. However not in comparison to windows mail. If its for business use, he is much better using gsuite (googlemail for business) or outlook 365. For a client on his machine, he is best using outlook. I use outlook myself on the mac. Email really is one of those where you get what you pay for. Mail is a free program preinstalled on macs, and is really intended for personal use IMO, not business use.

The major thing I don't like, though, is a different cable for each new version of a product (I think?). That is just ridiculous.

It's that ridiculous, it's false LOL. Actually apple devices has changed cables less than most other devices. iPhones for example went from a large proprietary socket to a smaller one, to then using USB. Android devices for example went from a different socket depending on device, to all using mini USB, to then all using micro USB, to now all coming out with USB C. When people go on about cables, what they are actually talking about is the fact that they use a different connection to android devices, which is true.

Gaming laptopemoji16.png I used it for playing World of Warcraft for ten years, then they ruined the game🤬 don’t even think I’ve seen a MAC in “real life”

Sent from my iPad using Husky Owners

I tried that game, and could never get into it (not that I game anyway to be honest). Gaming is certainly one thing that macs are not good at.

  7. The problem with some people and macs is that they try to do what they were doing on a windows PC. Its not a windows PC, its a mac. Its like getting into an automatic car and trying to find the gear lever. The whole idea behind using a mac is to log in and just use it, rather than trying to tinker with it. If you just get used to the way it works rather than trying to change it (which is what most peoples instinct is to do when moving from windows) then it's actually a lot easier to use than windows. It doesnt break as often, it doesnt slow down in the same manner, its not as susceptible to viruses and malware (purely as they will tend to target the larger amount of people, and thats windows).

Would love to know about these ''limitations" and "trapped" things to be honest, as Im not sure where they come from. Are they actual problems you have seen yourself, or just perceptions?

  8. Determined to see if Im the only mac user on here. So come on guys, are you a mac user or a PC user?

I guess Im kinda both. I have a mac, but I also use windows on it as I develop windows applications LOL. Unless I'm developing though, I tend to stay off it. Windows just drives me crazy these days.

  9. Besides huskies, what other animals do you have?

Currently in our house, other than Kimba, Kaiser, and Koda, we also have a bearded dragon and a corn snake. We rescued the bearded dragon, and the corn snake I kinda ended up with whilst drunk (No, really! lol)

  10. Introducing yourself (and using the forum in general) is actually pretty simple. But if you havent used a forum before, here is how to make your introduction to get yourself started.

First scroll down the page and find the introductions section. Click on this

    1.png

Once you are there, you are in a the introductions 'forum' where you can see all other peoples introductions. You can click to view any of these if you like, but for now, click on "New topic" which is how you will create your own (Ignore the fact I am in the wrong forum here :D )

    2.png

From here, creating your introduction is as easy as 1, 2, 3 post

    1. Add a title for your post
    2. Add the content of your post
    3. You can add any images here.

Once done, just click to submit your topic. And there is your first post done :)
