  1. There is another alternative it is the Garmin - DC 40 GPS Dog Tracking Collar it is about $599, This doesn't require any cell service it uses VHF to transmit location information from the GPS on the collar. I have not used this personally, here is the link: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/on-the-trail/dog-tracking-training/astro-/prod89564.html Now what I can determine from this one is, you don't leave it on them 24/7 (or in my case whenever she isn't in bed), this is whenever you take them outside. Here is where I have the problem with these types: 1. Battery 20 hours on the Garmin - approx. 1 month on the PetTracker 2. This is a collar replacement for the Garmin - for the PetTracker just a little device that attaches to the collar (I attached it to the harness) 3. There is no activity level tracking - The PetTracker tracks activity with built in gyroscopes and sensors. 4. There is no phone app, requires handheld device - The PetTracker has the ability to use your phone as its tracking device so no extra items are required to track. 5. Updated Maps are required to be purchased - The PetTracker uses online mapping so no updates are required 6. The Garmin uses AA batteries - The PetTracker has a rechargeable battery That is all I can think of right now
  2. I was recently asked if I would give a short review of the GPS system I use for Maya. Although there are a few of them out there, such as the Garmin Astro 320, TEK 1.0 GPS, SportDog TEK GPS, and MiniSpy just to name a few. I have decided to use PetTracker or Tagg. There are several reasons I chose the PetTracker. The major reason is the activity monitoring, this gives me a sense of how Maya is feeling, acting and what her energy level needs to be every day. It allows me to keep a long term trend of points on a weekly, daily, and hourly report. Another great reason is the fact I can use my Smart phone and get her current location, track her, see the battery level, monitor her activity level and much more right from the phone as well as the website. Finally the 3rd reason for choosing this device is because it is 100% water proof, swimming, rain, of any types will not effect the system. Here is PetTracker's sales pitch from their website: What I have found is a couple of things, the unit itself does require Verizon's cell service network, although any of the protocols will work so coverage is near 100% in the United States. Places like Death Valley is thin coverage. The unit costs $99.00 and you can pay $7.99 per month or $79.00 per year. This is far superior cost wise then the $500 - $3000 for sport dog tracking and you don't get near the features. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask Thank you, Jeff

    120Mb Bb

I am running a business out of my house and I also have 2 offices, one in California and the other in New York, the California Office is a SAS 70 Type II compliant data centers and has Multiple carrier options available (AT&T, MCI/Verizon, Level3, AboveNet, XO, Cox, Time Warner Telecom and more) with multiple fiber route entrances to building. Which means if I turn off all of the servers and hook up a single PC to the mega switch, the speed of the internet is faster then my PC can take the data in and out. So I guess since I am running a Gig card for my network it would probably cap out at 1 GB down and 1 GB up. Although mathematically it would calculate to 2.56 TB/s times 3 so roughly about 8 TB/s. The New York office is 50 down and 5 up. Here in my house I am running a simple OC-128 line which is 6.2 GB/s but with 6 processing servers for print, media, traffic security (IP Cop Box), DVR (Security Camera's) and internet which I usually cap out at 760ish meg per second up and down. I also think that is a limitation of my hard drives, switch and NIC. Sometimes the perks for an Internet based company is the hardware and software I get to blow money on. Sorry if this sounds like bragging, I really didn't mean it that way, just thought someone would be interested in my setup, and if I would have just posted 6.2 GB/s and showed a speed test of 760ish MB per second that would have started a bunch of questions so I kind of went into more details than I needed to there
  4. Dunc I agree with you, although the other symptoms she mentioned would mean that there may be something else going on. I am not sure in Canada, but here in Ohio it is $25 for a wellness check. To me I would spend that for a splinter in the paw. It is ultimately your decision.
  5. Don't walk... Run to the phone and call... This sounds like a very unhealthy situation. Just my 2 cents

    Panic !

I purchased some pill pockets... These things are awesome, they are a treat with a hole in the middle. You stick the pill inside and Maya eats it with no problem.

  8. Really? Where did I go wrong on that? I though that was pretty damn funny and clever... HAHAHAHA Echo... the dog's name? Anyone? Anyone? echo the php command to display text? Knock Knock? That would have been a hot topic for about a month!
  9. <? foreach(range(1, 4) as $i) echo "Happy Birthday " .($i == 3 ? "dear Echo!" : "to you!") . "<br />"; ?> Don't know what that does? check it out here: Watch the demo PS - pardon the pun... Echo is a php command to display a string and is his name, I am not sure if they did that on purpose, but since echo was his name, I wrote a little script to ECHO happy birthday to ECHO! --- WOW way too late, and I am still taking way too much NyQuil!
