  1. I can already tell he is smart. I switched to his puppy food to train with He learned sit in less than a minute. But just because he knows what it means doesn't mean he'll do it.It's just the stubbornness. Also I thought we were making progress with house training but recently he has been peeing indoors more than usual. Is it possible he is doing it just so we can go outside and he can chase grasshoppers?
  2. When I pick him up its never because he is scared, it's because he is too stubborn to go in or out and just sits there. And I don't want to drag him on his leash
  3. Also is it ok to carry him from place to place? He won't become reliant on it will he? Cause I'm okay with it now but when he tippin the scale at seventy pounds I just don't know if it will be practical
  4. Closest thing we have is a petsmart. I'm going to be checking there soon
  5. I keep each walk between ten and fifteen minutes. And thanks I didn't know you had to wait a year. Are there any treats that are particularly suited for huskies?
  6. Thanks I just wanted to make sure it was normal. I've never had a dog refuse to follow me before, but I guess I've never had a husky before either. I'd still like to be able to teach him come though
  7. Well my new puppy Meeko is finally out of his shell and now he's a giant handful. He is full of energy. That wouldn't be a problem because I'd love to jog with him but he doesn't walk on a leash. Well He does but he only goes the way he wants and if I don't go he'll just sit and maybe chew his leash, if I wait he will usually go the way I want. And it's not because he's tired either. Also if he's walking on his leash and if I walk ahead of him he stops. And when we go inside I have to carry him in? Any ideas? He won't train I think I need different treats because he will eat them but he doesn't want them enough to come across the room and get it. They are chicken jerky bites. What should I do?
  8. She said it was scored excellent, I think she might of told me some of this and I just didn't pick up on it when we met to give the dog. I'm going to get both redone, the eye and hip one, because I figure better safe than sorry
  9. Yeah, that's good, I don't care if he is too big for the standard, we don't intend to show or breed him. Meeko is just gonna be the family pet and my jogging partner when he is old enough. When I called the breeder she told me she picked the parents because they both had good temperaments, though his dad was energetic but very intelligent, his mom was calmer and smaller. He is kind of rowdy but he is taking to his training well. Also she told me both Meekos parents had their eyes tested, I forget what the test was called, but that they both were healthy. Also neither parent has shown signs of hip displaysia. Well thanks for all your guys's advice. Meekos doing fine now though sometimes I wish he was back to chilling all the time
  10. I called the vet today. The one of the breeders, and I was told that Meekos dad had never weighed one seventy five, he had weighed 165 at heaviest. I think it might have been a mistake, because the lady's grandson was there and he was the one writting it down. The vet said she was a reputable breeder, but that could be fake, I'm calling the breeder tomorrow to try to find out if it was a mistake or whatever. I think he looks pure husky he doesn't look mixed with a freighter to me but you never know
  11. That's the way he was though, according to the paperwork she gave me. she had a picture in her purse and his dad was Huge. His dad was registered and everything.
  12. yeah his dad was big and well muscled, his mom was small though, it's gonna be cool to see how he turns out
  13. Ha thanks, I think he is going to be a big boy too, his dad was seventy five pounds and he is only 10 weeks and is already bigger than my beagle
  14. we held both Meeko and buster while they first sniffed each other and actually Meeko is already bigger than buster even though meekos ten weeks old. Everything worked out though. Meeko isn't scared of buster at all. (Edit) buster is no longer afraid of Meeko and they are getting along super well
