  1. I joined last year in October thinking my daughter was going to get a husky. Well, at the Shelter in December we were Volunteering and she made a comment she really wanted her dog not just to volunteer. So, we went next door to Animal Control and they had a 1 Yr old Husky that would not respond to us, and my daughter said a puppy will be better. Went back to the Shelter ( Non Kill the one we Volunteer with) and she picked a black little girl puppy. I said ok, now be sure theres other puppies here, walk away, she did and said yes she wanted that one. I said ok, while I went to get the card, I told her look at the other two, she did. Well, she couldnt decide. So I had the staff take those two pups ( one for my son) to play in the greet room. Told her we then can see the other one as well. She decided to take her as my son chose the male puppy( siblings). So, they ended up with a couple problems but got heir health back up and now they are doing great! 50 pounds so far, not sure if they will get bigger- they are almost a year now. So, the breed is Australian Shepherd mix, but the female sure acts like a husky by climbing the chain link, talking, and they both have tried to jump over the fence to get to some birds flying over. I told her one day she can still get her husky. Well, you all were so kind welcoming me before, I never forgot about this wonderful site, I just have been crazy busy and felt kinda weird coming back not having a Husky. Of course, I see as this thread states "Other Pets & Breeds"
  2. Welcome! She is adorable! At least you did your homework before you got her, and that was great! Congrats Love the leash picture!
  3. Hey everyone! Thanks again for the welcome! Sorry I havent been on, its been something over here! Al, I am In El Paso
  4. Hahha Ok, I cant keep up!! So yes, thank you all!!! Well, we are looking at rescuing a Sibe, but we are a little nervous with an adult because if they have had the luxery of being an escape artist, we dont want them to leave!! But we plan to rescue both dogs, at least thats our first option. Thanks all, I will be back to post in the proper place
  5. Oh wow!!! So many people already!!! Hello Andy and Marc as well! And thank you too
  6. Hello Sarah!!! Thank you for your welcome!!!! I will be deff asking questions
  7. As my user name states, I will be a new Husky owner in the near future!! I am a single mom of two kids, with over 30+ years of experience with various animals! Hamsters,Rats,Rabbits,Cats, Turtles,Fish,Hermit Crabs,Ferrets, Mice, Lizards, Gerbils and Dogs of course. I grew up surrounded by Cairn Terriers, New Foundlands, German Shep,Mastiffs, Poodles, Bulldogs,Pitbulls,Labs, Dashunds, Cocker spanial mix, and many mixed and various breeds! We also volunteer at our local shelter. We have been around Huskies and my neighbor also has one, so we are hopefully getting ourselves prepared! So my daughter is wanting a Sibe and after looking into them, I see the work ahead of us, but as an experienced dog owner, Im confident in raising this amazing breed! I have read and talked to many people who have had this breed as well as mixes of this breed. I see some- many are stubbron and exscape artists, which I will double check with you all on these topics if you dont mind I do know the exercise and brushing they require and there is no problem with that. I do plan training and fun activities for our future fur baby and "she" ( daughter wants a female) will have my sons future boxer or German Shep for a playmate as well as us, and several kids. We are aware of the possible destruction and howling, along with digging. I have fence plans like fort knox to keep them in. Well, thank you for accepting us as a new member and we look forward to chatting with you all!!!! Feel free to ask questions, I love talking!!!!( as you can see)
