  1. Thank you every one! I'm glad to have learned something new today! I was just so confused when I saw her. That is true that you can judge a book by its cover, or a dog by its fur. Lol
  2. Hmmm. Ok. Thank you so much. I just have never seen a non fluffy husky. She is almost a year old. What age are they fully mature at?
  3. Hello. My friend says that her husky is pure breed but I'm not quite sure I believe her. See, the husky has a very short coat and her tail does not have the curl to it. Input? ^.^
  4. Ok. So I have seen everywhere that if you have a husky that you should not have a cat. Because huskys have a high hunting instinct and will likely hurt smaller animals. Is this true? Does any one have a cat as well? Also what are good ways to get your husky to not hunt that cat later? Right now my puppy is 8 weeks old. I'm hoping that they will be fine.
  5. So she tested positive for distemper. Seems I bought her just as she s Got it. She is on intensive antibiotics and on the nutria Cal and virbac rebound milk. Eye drops. Anti vomiting and Dihrreah medication. She got past the first part of the infection and Is eatting and playful now. She is eating chicken (doctors orders on the chicken) and wet can food. I'm waiting for the secondary infection to get a hold of her and see of she pulls through that one. If so she gets her second set of vacations next Friday.
  6. Hello! OP here. Sooooooo. After all that exploding I finally decided to come back and reply to everyone. I got my husky online. Here in Texas it is very common for puppies to go out to new homes at that age. That seems to be the minimum limit here. I got her because they were selling her at a low price. Turned out she has distemper. So guessing the weight is not normal being as I don't think anyone answer the original question. And yes it was obvious that she should weigh more but by how much I was unsure. I'm a stay at home house wife so I have all the time in the world to make sure she doesn't pick up bad habits but she also is my first dog ever. But don't worry, I have my nose I the books and websites I can find. Any advice would be great on things to watch out for as far as behavior issues since she is so young? And yes when she gets her shots I will be socializing the heck out of her. Right now I just have to see if she will pull through the distemper. She is past the first stage. Eating now and playful. Waiting for the secondary infection to come. She is on antibiotics. And next Friday I take her in to get her second shots in she is over the distemper.
  7. So I made a post on this site asking advice about my 6 week old puppy I got of Craigslist from some one who got her from some one else. Her name is Rhawones and it's pronounced Rhaw-Dess. After diffrent tests done and hundreds of dollars spent we found out the the poor baby has distemper. She was vacated with the distemper live modified virus and I believe that the previous owners did not burn the vile before disposing of it, or she got it from sniffing or eating her brothers poop who had been vaccinated with her. Right now she has gotten through the first infection and is on antibiotics, supplements and eye drops and vomiting and Dihrreah medication. She is playful and energetic. Eatting fine. And talking to me. I'm waiting for the secondary infection to hit her and we will see how it goes from there. I just wanted anyone who read my frantic posts to have a updats.
  8. Her Stool is runny. I offer her a cup of food every time. Only once every few days she will eat. Sleeps most of the day
  9. 7 weeks now. Yes I have. She will eat kixs and simply nourish turkey chewy bites. Doesn't have parvo. Is dewormed.
  10. How do I help a under weight puppy gain weight that will not eat except every few days?
  11. I promise it is not over feeding. she didn't eat for 3 days in a row. I just want to entice her to eat something. When it is feeding time she just sniffs it and walks away. She ate some kixs after 3 days of nothing and now won't eat anything. That was two days ago. I tried putting some treats in chicken and she won't eat it. I have tried different brand of dog foods and she won't eat it. softened or not. I'm am just worried because puppy's are supposed to eat food and play around. She just poops and sleeps. It does make me feel better to know that your puppy was sleeping all the time till 12 weeks. But it makes me worried that she rarely eats and I can feel her ribs and spin clear ad day. 12. My new baby puppy is 6 weeks old and weighing in at 9 ponds. Is this normal? Her ribs and spine are predominantly showing and she has a abdominal tuck. No meat on her ribs. She looks very skiny. And she isn't eatting any food I give her expect treats. What can I give her to put some meat in her bones?
  13. Hello all. I found this site looking up some general questions about huskies. This site seems to be full of knowledge! I'm a first time husky/dog owner. Her name is Rhawones (sounds like Rhaw-Dess. It's elvish) she is 6 weeks old. Her other owners had to get rid of her because they were moving. I know it was really early to get her. She has green eye boogers. She has liquid poops. Was black but I took her to the vet and put her on some antibiotics. It's still liquid (been 5 days now) but it's lighting up alot. I can't get her to eat much except for kixs and dog treats. Rarely. I have tried putting egg in the food to make it soft. I got some canned dog food that had chicken and rice in it (also different ones that has tuna in it and salmon)and she still won't eat. All she does is sleep and potty. Is that normal for a 6 week old? When will she get active and want to play? She does not have parvo btw. She has been tested.
