My guys are never crated at home. Only when we are at camp. However when we are at camp after a walk they drag me back and all run into the crate. Glad your guys are adjusting well to their crates

Sounds like you're doing the right things. Might be worth a trip to the vet to try to find out why he's constantly licking at theose areas -

Get a tin of cheap hot dogs. cut them into small slices and put them into a bag. the smell will keep her attention on you and then as she completes whatever command you're training her etc give her a small piece as a reward.

Well done Nix for helping the poor lad out. Just another example of people taking on a breed they know nothing about and then getting into difficulty. Lets hope he gets a new owner who actually wants to look after him and give him the love and attention he deserves.
