    A much older explanation for why people say "god bless you" when you sneeze is that waaaaaaaaaaayyyyy back in the 12th-13th century if you sneezed violently or had a sneezing fit it was believed that you were posessed by a demon and that it was escaping from your body in the sneeze. And so by blessing you it stopped the demon from re-entering you.
