HI, this is always a highly controversial topic.
New owners want to let their puppy off lead.
It's understandable.
and up to about 8 to 10 months a puppy will recall when called or if you
change direction they will scamper to catch you up,
because YOU are their world, and they want to be with you.
However. . .
between 8 to 10 months the prey drive starts to kick in.
This means they start to get interested in everything else in the world.
Especially anything that moves. They will want to chase it.
Leaves blowing in the wind, plastic bags, bits of paper, other dogs and people.
They also get the famous Husky selective hearing, in other words
they WILL ignore you calling them back.
Also they can run faster than you.
If you are not in a fully secure area then they will be able to get away from you.
You chasing them will be a game for them.
Until they get to a main road and . . . . you can imagine the rest.
Please, please do not let your Husky off lead unless you are in a fully secure area.
Please don't have to learn the hard way.
