I stand in the middle of the garden with 2 balls. thow one down one end of the garden. she chases it picks it up races back, about 20 feet away from me she drops it and it rolls to me. By this time I launch the 2nd ball to the other end of the garden. echo doesn't stop just keeps running full tilt to get the ball. We repeat this for 15 mins and she's absolutely knackered.

  6. Our Echo (White GSD) does not like strangers and we have to muzzle her when we take her to get her nails clipped. However at 5 1/2 she is getting slowly better. We think she's getting to the point where she can't be arsed with all the effort it takes.

Whenever we've introduced a new dog to the house we have always introduced them somewhere completely neutral. A local tennis courts is where we do it fenced and secure. We let them off to run around and sniff and chase and become used to each other. Then clip on leads and walk back home. then introduce the now (hopefully) new freind into the home.
  15. It's very rare for humans to infect animals. I've personally never had it happen to me or mine. However if you are feeling ill and really downhearted the dogs can pick up on the change in the emotional tone in the house and be affected by that.
  16. Happy birthday chaos from the Rickard Pack
  17. The temptation is to give them too much, as a puppy they will be happy to go too far. However the danger is that your are causing damage to the still growing bones, joints and ligaments. The damage only becomes apparent many years later when they get hip and joint problems years before they should. simply waiting a few months at this age to engage in full on strenuous exercise will give them years of fitness for you to enjoy. Bikejoring, scootering, running miles and miles with you, sled pulling etc, must wait until they are at least a year old.
  18. Once they have reached 12 months they can take almost as much exercise as you can give them. We've always given ours roughly 6 miles of walks per day. Split up into multiple walks per day. If you are happy going for hours of walking then when they are old enough they will happily drag you along. Actually you'll find they drag for the first 10 mins or so then settle down.
  19. exercise is usually measured at 5mins strenuous exercise per month of age. so at 3 month 15 mins per session. say 3 times per day. also don't forget they will also be running around the home and garden too. but once they have had their injections and can go out into the world. Walks of 5 mins per month of age. So at 4 months you can take them for a mile walk
