  1. Having a companion is great they are pack animals and while they all have different personalities. They love having someone to play and snuggle with. YES there may be jealousy issues, no different than human siblings. Give them equal time and share the love.
  2. LMAO, I think we kind of expect it from Huskies. I don't know if you've ever met Nikita (she's a wolf hybrid and soooooo sweet) When she jumps up and puts her paws on your shoulder, looks DOWN at you and gives you a big slobbery kiss.
  3. As long as it's red(ish) and tied around the neck, We're not saying it has to be this exact shade of red and this size and shape. Red(ish) in colour and tied around the neck. Old Tea towel, torn up T-shirt. Not fussy. just a clear visual signal ASK first before approaching.
  4. Darwin has got off his lead or out the door on a number of occasions. and he also LOVES to play the "chase me" game. first thing we do is go back in the house and get a tin of tuna. once we're close enough for him to smell it he comes trotting back for the nom noms
  5. He loves to sniff, it's a dog thing Two choices. 1. work with him to walk to heel. there have been many threads about loose lead training. 2. get a longer lead.
  6. We got ours to do it by holding a treat in a closed hand over their head, then slowly bringing the hand down, whilst saying "Down" until the hand was on the floor a few inches in front of them. Because their head follows the hand they almost naturally drop to a lying position to try to get to the treat in your hand.
  7. Don't forget mental stimulation, learning tricks and obedience training will also tire them out, especially when combined with some walking and in home playing, chasing after balls and tugging (gently) on toys etc.
  8. Actually it's Marc (Sparks) you wan't to ply with JD and see what happens. but Keep you're distance coz it tends to be projectile. . . LMAO
  9. took me ages to find them. . . lol it was a good camp. . . those Pics of Sue. . . PMSL

  11. Dunc you wuz sooooo funny last year. and Yeah it was bloody freezing, but the clear sky and amazing stars made up for it. At least this place has more than one toilet. . .
  12. ROFPMSL Dunc if it has alchohol in it you'll drink it. . .
  13. We do 2 per year about 6 months apart. we can't wait.
  14. OK so this is a conversation that's been had before. This is what we do. When we want to walk the dogs around the local park etc, they are attached by the collar. they know when they are on the collar they are supposed to walk nicely , minimal pulling. (I can walk all 3 of mine with connected leads in one hand) However When they are on harness they know they CAN pull, they are attached to the walkydog on my bike and they can really let go.
  15. One thing we can guarantee is that it's never boring. there so many different people and personalities. Let alone all the different Huskies (and other breeds) there's always someone to chat to and have a laugh with.
  16. Before we domesticated dogs they couldn't pop down to Pets @ home for 15kg bag of kibble and some tins of Chappie. As long as you chop it up fine he'll be good with RAW
  17. LMAO I'm nearly half a century old, almost everyone is a KID compared to me lol
  18. Yes, let him wear a red bandana, this way people will ask first before approaching either on their own or with dogs. If we have different colours we end up with a rainbow of bandanas and no-one sure what colour is for what. So we stick with red to say ASK first
  19. LOL there will be a bunch of kids at the camp too including my 14 yr old son Erik. the kids usually have a whale of a time.
  20. First of all. . . adopting is fantastic way to give a Husky a new home. It's advisable once you've found a prospective New Husky to arrange to take your current sibe to meet and greet. If they get on and play nicely then you can look deeper into adapting the boy or girl. We had Echo our white German shepherd. (a rescue and very aggressive towards strange dogs when on lead) We got Daughtry as an 8 week old pup and Echo adopted her and became surrogate mum. They are now inseperable. 6 months later we rescued Darwin, a very friendly male sibe. We allowed them to meet outside the house, in a safe offlead area where they could run around and sniff and play. Then we walked them all back and introduced them all into the house. While we have had some dominance issues between Echo and Darwin they get on very well and are a tight pack.
  21. We Camp (duh ) we let our huskies meet and greet each other. we go for long walks with our Huskies. (Oh, the looks on the faces of the locals as a huge pack of wolves on leads come yomping around the local trails) We have fun and games People can have a go at scootering and we sit around the campfire at night chatting and imbibing alcoholic beverages.
  22. Yes we do the Red Ribbon bandana to alert others NOT to approach this dog without permission as it may be scared or aggressive.
