OK the shutter speeds are on a dial on the top of the camera and the aperture size is also known as the F-Stop and is a ring on the lens Looks like this If you open the aperture (F-stop ring) you let more light in If you close the aperture (F-stop ring) you let less light in. see the image below F/16 = less light F/2 = more light

To avoid the overbright images you need to Increase your shutter speed (this will also reduce the blurring) and decrease the aperture size
