Might take a look. I haven't had a VHS for years. Mind you I don't have a DVD or Blue ray player either except the one in the PC and that almost never gets used. I'm a solid state kinda guy

Could be a heat spot. They show as a lump at first then burst with a clear / slightly bloody fluid then you're left with a red "crater" Treat it with a mild disinfectant / antibiotic. Keep an eye on it but it should clear up on it's own
