  4. Sooooo. . . . How did you name your Huskies. .(or any pet for that matter) ?? We have had Cats and Gerbils and Rats and Russian Dwarf Hamsters and budgies and other dogs before getting Koda And we’ve always gone through a torturous process in finding suitable names. We always start off by getting each member of the family to write down as many names as they can come up with, fun/cute /silly/absurd/normal or just plain boring all are considered. We try to take in to account any striking physical markings or differences. We then combine all the lists and give each family member a copy of the master list. Each person then has to choose thier top 5 names. We then combine the top 5’s and go around again until we have whittled several hundred names down to 5 that we all sort of like. . . . Now we get to the SHOUTY phase. . .lol We shout the names as if calling our dogs from a distance to see how they sound. . .coz. . . When your dog manages to get away from you and is barrelling across the park with the intention of inserting something physically into another dog, nose or. . .erm. . other bits. . . . or. . .deciding that , that teacup Yorkshire terrier is the ugliest cat its ever seen and well. . .it just has to be eaten. You are gonna start bellowing its name to get it to come back, stop or otherwise distract it. It’s at this point that “Veridian Gargoyle Saccharine Snugglebunnies†sounds utterly stupid as you leg it after your dog screaming THAT at the top of your lungs. Or if you have given it what you consider to be a suitable name for your so cute puppy. . .remember when half a ton of Rottwieler is going like a freight train away from you, and you are shouting “Peanut!!!! come back Peanut†Many really great names have been discarded at the Shouty phase. So we are now down to a couple of names and we just start saying them to get a feel, does the dog respond, am I comfortable with the name? At this point we've ended up throwing the whole lot out because one of us says a name randomly out of the blue that makes everone go. . .â€ÂOooooh yeah†Such was the case with both Echo and Koda. LOL. . . So how do you name your dogs. . . .
  5. good result. . . Norman is sooooo photogenic. . . can we have a competition to try and guess WTF norman is. . . ?? Storm looks so cute, it's a great photo.

  7. Cool thats great info. . .maybe the Mal we say had been smoking for most it's life and had stunted its growth. . . lol
  8. Roughly. . .at what age does an average Husky stop growing. . . Koda is 16 weeks and we bumped into an 18 month Malamute in Pets at Home the other day and Koda was three quarters the size of the Mal already. Just trying to get an idea of how big she's gonna be. I've added a piccy of Koda n Echo (our 2 year old GSD) for comparison. Thanx in advance for info and advice. . .
  9. Oxford is on the map. . . erm and so are we . .lol
  10. We have a 10 meter for Koda so she can get a bit of a run on but soon discovered that even 30ft is not long enuff. . . we let Echo (GSD) off the lead and she chases the ball Koda chases echo and goes . . . TWOING at the 30ft mark. we're thinking of getting another and linking them together. Forgot to mention we got ours from Pets at Home and I think they do longer ones. . .

    Walking 2 Sibies

I have a 15 week Husky (Koda) and a two year old white GSD (Echo) both are VERY draggy dogs into bushes/lamposts/dog poo etc they get walked together and they are always going off in different directions and can be difficult to control. . .so... . . This week we invested in two Halti collars and the difference is amazing. . . Echo (GSD) took to the halti straight away and walked beautifully next to me with a slack lead. Koda (Husky) started off throwing sommersaults, twisting around and just lying down legs spread (nope I'm not going nowhere. . attitude) but after about half an hour and a good walk around the park Koda was walking nicely loose lead, head up/ears up/tail curled up, with a little trot on. Also as we approached home we encountered another owner with a 6 month old GSD which launched out to the end of his lead barking his head off. . . NOW Echo (our GSD) would normally leap into the fray barking and leaping up dragging me across the road to do battle or sniff bums whichever came first, with the Halti as soon as she started to go, her head was turned and she simply subsided, aggression gone and sat beside me nicely while the other dog continued to go mental. To say I was gobsmacked at this turn of events well its like I'd got a whole new dog. So the halti works for me, I can walk two very draggy dogs with thier leads tied together at the handles and hold them with ONE finger. . .just amazing.

    Halti harness

Yeah me too, I sit on my ar$e all night in front of 6 PC's (computers. . not officers of the law) trying to stay awake is my major challenge tonight. If they hadn't killed all our internet connections I could chat on the forum with our Ozzie members. . .but sigh nope.

    Halti harness

Nah!. . .not crazy . . .only had 4 hours sleep after a 12 hour nightshift. anything that stops you being dragged on yer belly arms outstretched along the street just coz you said the word "Park" is good with me.

    Halti harness

Our Koda is too young at the moment for a halti . . . however we recently got one for our two year old White GSD and . . OMG what a difference. She went from dragging everywhere, from this sniffy thing to that bush, to that pile of poo (don't get me started on the owners who don't pick up after thier dogs !! GGRRRRRR) to walking nicely and calm with a loose leash, Literally overnight Get one. . . NOW !! go. . .on. . . yes. .you shut down the PC and get down to your local pet store. . . . . LOL
