  1. Benadryl may work but as side affect. Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) is an OTC antihistamine, used to treat allergic reactions in humans and some animals. I swear on Rescue Remedy and run your dogs before taking the on a long journey. Feed your dogs half an hour before the walk. Running your dogs before a long car journey will drain a lot of energy and will mean you won't have to stop to let them out as often. Also try a treat like a bone to occupy your dog for the main part of the journey. But never give your dog medicine unless absolutely necessary.
  2. I'm unsure about the terms but we have defence housing near us and most people don't have pets there. If you are looking after or fostering dogs I would say its ok. I would write to the they may say you can do it for so many week/months of the year as long as the dogs are not noisy
  3. Good post. I found that making liver biscuits for Merlin works a treat, He will do anything for these biscuits and it’s amazing just how fast he can learn something with these. Boil liver for 5 minutes then grill until cooked dry. Or 1lb liver 1lb flour - preferably granary 3 eggs 2 cloves garlic (optional) 1 teaspoon oil splosh of milk Liquidise liver with eggs, milk, oil & garlic in blender. Add to flour & mix Put into a microwavable dish & hollow it slightly in middle, then cook on full power for about 10 mins. Cut into slices & freeze. Serve frozen as they dont last.
  4. I dont create Merlin, Never have because my wife said No. As long as there walked before you leave them. Merlin has eat the sofa (not his fault he was 18 weeks and there was some fluff sticking out.) He use to eat plastic bags but stopped when we walked him more.
  5. When we were on holiday merlin and a puppy slept in our bed.. Aswell as our cousin who stayed with him.
  6. He's Brown,White & Black We always walk him on upton Heath, I have seen many Huskies walking at this heath. We should meet sometime I can walk mine on a long lead he does't mine too much. Mike.
  7. Hey just noticed you live in Poole aswell. I saw a lady walk 3 huskys at 9am in creekmoor, was it you? We have a male he is 18months and i walk him off lead for 10 mins in the morning and off lead for 1-2 hours in the evening. We are lucky as we live 200 yards from the heath, he is on the lead on the way and if hes good he can walk back off lead. Mike
  8. 6 Weeks Old When Merlin was a puppy he was white and grey 1 Year 6 Months Now he is black, white, grey, and fawn all rolled into one!
  9. I think it’s her challenging as the other dog is not at full strength and may just be wanting the top spot.
  10. Check for cuts, Glass Or any object stuck between his pads PDSA PetAid hospital Bournemouth 70 Castle Lane West Moordown BH9 3JU 01202 533630 open all week:D
  11. We were given one by a friend the got it in norway and Merlin sucked its eye, nose and ears off.
  12. This women is mentally ill Would a reasonable person do this NO... Its sad but these things are all to common but go largely unnoticed/reported. Another sad thing is childrens charities will drive donations from such a story but not one charity can stop this type of abuse its impossible. Sad Sad world makes us cry
  13. I walk mine about twice a day. The only time I don’t take him out is if I’m ill and on such a day I just feed him half his usual. He becomes disruptive if he's not walked enough. Our Siberian wont do a number 2 in the garden unless he has to, he will hint by pushing his nose in to my coat, bring me my shoe or even stand on the back of the computer chair and walk me towards the back door lol. But I find feeding him less once a fortnight stops him from not eating. As he stopped eating for 7 days once, I took him to the vet and £100 later they said there was nothing wrong with him. He ate when he came home. I walk him 10 minutes in morning 1/2 hour after breakfast and we play hide and seek( I hide when he wonders in to trees) I walk him 1hour after his last meal 17:00 for an hour. I walk a mile he must walk 10 as he runs backward and forwards
  14. Maybe someone though it would help but they were wrong! If a husky is shaved Its seasonal growth cycle is disturbed. It will have problems regulating its temperature; it can get windburn or sunburn, and shaving severely alters the color and texture of the coat. Shaving also leaves its skin itchy and irritated because dead hair shafts remain behind. (these may need blucking) Treatment: aqueous cream or similar cream to be applied at night: Soft Brush what hair is left as it grows This will aid in: - Remove dirt and debris . Invigorates skin . Spreads oils to moisturize skin and keep a shiny coat . Prevents mats and tangles which are irritating painful and can harbor bacteria, fungus, other infection Sun cream factor 20 is a must for atleast untill the hair is coving most of the skin.
