  2. hey.. .thanks for the post back, our breeder kadexek has the van lettered, and s the best...really good breeder we picked her before our pup was even born. there was no reason for her to to do this but she advertised her pups as 'bloodline zero'. we of course asked questions and got some answers but OUr Kais is lovely not skinny at all, gorgeous... his mum and dad can be seen at mum http://www.kadexek.co.uk/#/the-kadexek-females/4538565157 shona dad http://www.kadexek.co.uk/#/the-kadexek-males/4538391413 merlin kaiser is so fast its unbelievable... i live in fields of land and we have races!! xx

  4. Yes I know this and thats why they are being watched like a hawk, high prey drives..yes i agree, but my cats are currently hunting the dog, army crawling and then pouncing! I will be careful..and kais is scared of the cats so far and he is much bigger than then, fingers cross he will understand more that they are our family. i have heard prey drive 'kicks in' when is this, what should we change and when will we know when to? thankyou x
  5. Thanks for this... He is 10 kg at 11wk...is this normal? we do not overfeed and stools are solid. He is gorgeous, and very active and friendlier than anyones best friend. To be honest he looks no different to any other sibe that age. Vets said he is perfectly healthy his weight is perfect and he is spot on. (but was a total w*$nker ant the same time giving us the 'hard sell' gold plan pitch just after his second jab, ....(all we wanted was sound advice)We currently have the 4 week free insurance with KC, but we need to change... I think?? Whats the best pet insurance...please help! Can you give me some advice though please... Cheers me dears xxx
  6. OUCH! kais did the same when we got him home, then he started creeping up the bed under the featherdown for a chew , he soon learned thats bad, get him a 'nipply' toy I dont know what it is called but its a oblong rubber thing with ...erm, well, nipples!!
  7. Kaiser is bloodline zero, which..although we dont know much of, (there isnt much on the net). We know he is fast and of smaller structure...(Again if anybody can shed some more light on this, that would brilliant)!! ------BREEDER RUNS THEM OFTEN THIS IS ALL I KNOW SO FAR AND THIS IS FROM A POST ON THIS SITE. The Zero bloodline, I believe, was developed in the late 1970s or early 1980s by Harris Dunlap out of Bakers Mills, New York. Much of the information on this topic was on sites related to the Seppala Sled Dogs. Unfortunately, most of those sites have been shutdown recently. It seems the effort to maintain or replicate the Seppala bloodline became too diverse and took several directions. But I digress. Harris Dunlap was one of the few who developed a team of Siberians that raced in open competition and were extremely fast. He started racing in the 1960s with Siberians, but later switched to Alaskan Huskies, but still bred Siberians. It is Siberians that are traced back to Harris Dunlap's line that are referred to as Zero Bloodline Siberians. The reason that the BSHRA will disqualify dogs from this line, is because they believe a dog within a certain number of generations will be genetically predisposed to be better at speed running than a dog that does not have the Zero Bloodline in its pedigree. Dunlap was an active breeder from the early 1960s up until about 1990. Zero Bloodline Huskies were developed out of Igloo Pak, Calivali, Seeley, and Seppala Bloodlines. He also used some Canadian lines in developing the Zero Bloodline. Does a Zero Bloodline Siberian look any different than a non-Zero Bloodline Siberian? Some say no, others say yes. There was some thought that Harris actually introduced another breed into the mix to get the results he wanted. Many suspect this other breed was the Alaskan Husky (which is a mixed breed containing Siberian Husky), which he also bred. Zero Bloodline Huskies most often have very short hair and minimal undercoat. The controversy of the Zero Bloodline seems to be more active in Europe than in the US where Harris Dunlap exported some of his dogs. Just so you know, I did not know any of this until today, and gleaned it from researching the Internet
  8. We have fully researched the breed for years...Im a great researcher..And we got our little boy on the 23rd dec so he is around 11 week old.. I have cats (Only told breeder I had one as didnt want to ruin my chances of getting him)..hate lying btw.. We had almost an interview with the breeder, and sent pics of our house, and land around ect ect to prove we were suitable enough owners. We are so glad for this and know that we can have info and help throughout his life. From the minute Kais came home and met the cats he loved them, would have preffered them stewed...only joking no REALLY it was not what we expected..with one or two swipesfrom the cats and some 'talking' from kaiser soon (within hours) they were friends. I think its all about creating the atmosphere of a pack. I completely believe that you must make your new addition know and trust that the other people/cats are more important but reading all that shizzle about staring the dog in the eyes and pinning him down is complete bulshhh. We have had kais for 3 week ish and now our kitten cuddles up to him until she goes to sleep, he cleans her (Not tasting I hope/?) Hec does play bite with her but it never hurts her he play bites us harder,,,any ideas to stop this?? But really he wont settle and sleep without little mia cat!! Mind, they are ALWAYS supervised. Is this wierd and should we be more careful...any tips???? ps really love this site your all so caring and great

  11. Thank you so much for your help! Going to have a look at Wainwrights and 'Natures menu nuggets' now! We did try the minced raw but it does sorta look like theres been a murder in the kitchen each time we feed. Not that I'd mind at alll but Kais doesnt seem so keen either.. Its very difficult when trying to find the true truth about anything on the internet...very frustrating, Joined on here this morning to get some help from those experienced, and hopefully in time give help myself! MANY THANKS GUYS xx
  12. Hi we're currently feeding Purina Pro Plan Puppy to our 11 week old boy Kaiser, After a bit of confused research on the interweb due to many conflicting views on bad/ good/ tbest / worst feed, We're not sure if this is the best. Ive read quite rambing (and angry) views on brands like Purina and Iams ect, mentionng that because the original owner of these brands are giants such as 'Nestle', and 'Mars' to name a couple that it is a greed fuelled industry and therefore the manufacturers can be puuting in alsorts of c*$p into the food to 'bulk' it up and this can be damaging to the doggy. We have been combining kibble with some raw, including bones and chicken necks as advised by the breeder, but kibble seems alot easier and less messy and Kaiser actually seems to prefer it. Can anybody please shed some light on this as husky owners? Your help will be greatly appreciated!! Rachael and Liam and Kaiser xx
  13. Hello everyone, Im currently feeding purina ro plan puppy to our 11 week old boy combined with some raw and bones, His tummy has rarely settled in the 2 weeks we've had him.. The internet is filled with such cnflcting views on whats good and whats not, I was wondering if somebody could shed some light on the best kibble to feed? I hears its not good to combine kibble with raw but this is what teh breeder recommended, she seems very good btw and has 11 of her own! Thanks, Rachael
