  1. hahaha It's about bloody time.... you'd be surprised how many people think I am older than my brother bear in mind there are 9 YEARS between us!!! I am 29 and he is 38 now... yes we've had a rivalry oooh since i was in the cot still and he used to nip me and make me cry purely because i was getting more attention and he's a jealous barsteward haha But yes my name is Paul Coulthard and I am addicted ot Huskies
  2. haha funnily enough my favorite one is the one where I am cuddling in with Kato even though I was about 4 stone lighter and 5 years younger =P but I agree kato is at least 10 times more handsome... as well as furry I would just like to settle this once and for all.. ever since I was 18 (my brother being 27 th the time) we have had a constant battle whereby he would ask women/lasses/men/people/dogs who they believed were the younger and better looking brother!? Now even when I was say 22, and he was 30-ish (even when i was 16 and he was 25) he would still ask the same question.... Surely in the last photo who looks the youngest.. LEFT or RIGHT!?!
  3. I genuinely didn't even look at the date of the last post (probably should have tbh haha) but either way like you say should definitely be brought to the forefront for new Husky Owners!! As i've stated I haven't been on here since 2012 but i learnt so much from this forum and without it I probably wouldn't have Kato to this day and now he's a 7 year old "rotund" little bugger =P I originally learnt the hard way, I'm 6ft 3 and i Had a 6ft fence in the back garden... Kato 7 month old (still a skinny git) easily jumped the fence and was gone, luckily i found him at the local dog & cat shelter..... and trust me if they can't climb it they will dig under it!! They are a complete little bugger to look after but listen, if you have the time and the correct attitude then they're so rewarding and it is worth it 20 fold! Kato is... every bad name under the sun... but he is mine and i wouldn't change him for the world
  4. Hi, Been a fair while since I posted any photos of myself on the forum, the below post is oooh say about 2012-ish when Kato was about 3... Below is around about 2014 after a fresh mop chop.. Roughly 2015... Now on to 2017 on a recent holiday to Thailand... Finally 2017 after trimming the beard a little bit, one is me and one is my brother. I'll let you guess which is which... Bear in mind he is 38 and I am 29 Thanks, Paul
  5. Honestly this absolutely devastated me to read!! Kato was off the lead until about 8 month, I could still catch him at this age... just haha. Being my first Husky I wasn't aware of their hunting instinct and their want to run. I soon learned though... he ended up on the main road (0.5 mile away) dodging cars and thankfully a police van pulled over with a dog handler and dogs on board, the handler let his 3 dogs out (Kato was in the farmer's field next to road by now) and Kato saw these 3 police dogs as play friends so immediately went about roughing them up and playing. The dog handler knew exactly what he was doing and thankfully I managed to retrieve Kato without a scratch to him (although the 3 police dogs were probably in shock haha) i couldn't thank the officer enough. Prior to this I always thought Kato had a good recall but since this day I bought him a 60-100ft horse training leash (snapped the usual dog leashes) and now he always has that attached. I let it hang loose because I am certain I can get to within 100ft of him when he runs still but I 100% recommend this. Your amazing Husky may be the most well behaved and recall trained dog in the world but for me now I just wouldn't take the chance. Thanks, Paul
  6. Haven't read all the post but I, personally, prefer a harness. I've just purchased an Easy Walk Harness which clips at the front as opposed to the back and that has cut his pulling by half. Bit of a bugger to get size right and fitting it right but once sorted it has worked like a charm. Each to their own I suppose though! Edit: Once you have it adjusted to it's proper fit it's really easy to put on and off, simply slip it over the head and then a belly strap clips together!
  7. Yeah absolute nightmare on black stuff... So the missus decided to buy black sofas ahahahaha can you believe it!? Now she whinges when it's covered in hair and I get to say "TOLD YOU SO!" Lol Was looking at another thread on here and, as I never got to see the father, thought I'd have a look. "Mystic Lunar of the Night" is his KC name Lol
  8. I believe this to be a photo of Kato from the breeder, Kato being the grey and white in the centre!!
  9. Just managed to find photos of Kato's dad.... he's a gorgeous lad!! Can see a lot of him in Kato!!
  10. Hi, I was just wondering if there were any siblings of Kato on this forum as would be interesting to see how they have developed!? Even if there are any extended family members I'd like to know Kato's KC Name: KENDECI ANDREJ Sire: MYSTIC LUNAR OF THE NIGHT Dam: NOTHING BUT SWEETNESS Will upload his extended pedigree if I get the chance! Cheers, Paul
  11. Hahaha brilliant vid... they are big fellas are they pure sibe or do they have a bit of mal in them?
  12. Agree with the posts above, what I find works with Kato is starving him for 24 hours (obviously with plenty of fresh water) then introduce him back on the food gradually and keep it light. For example when he gets an upset tummy I tend, after the 24 hours, cut the kibble down to 1/4 or 1/2 the usual amount... make him a bit of plain scrambled egg to go with it and add a little bit of natural yoghurt. Has worked whenever he has had the squits thankfully! I heard canned pumpkin (without spices) can help firm them up but I haven't been able to find it anywhere in Newcastle!!!? Hope she feels better soon
  13. I love the last photo with the rubber ring, he looks absolutely gorgeous. Hope he's back his normal self soon bless him!
  14. I only let Kato off in an enclosed area. I have a 60ft lead for him when out in the fields, I usually walk him with my Dads German Sheperd so she often helps by keeping his attention as well. We are working on his recall now we have the 60ft lead and it's coming along nicely, even IF he becomes accomplished at recall I stll won't be letting him off the lead. His prey drive is quite high, when on his long lead you can see him hunting and patrolling the field margins looking for rabbits.... we'll see how it goes
  15. My Easy Walk Harness arrived.... it takes a bit of adjusting to get the fit perfect, however, once you do it does the trick. It has cut Kato's pulling by roughly half and makes normal walks with him more enjoyable!! Great to use as a training tool, now rather than him rearing up when giving a tug and issuing the "Heel" command it turns him to the side and he responds. Been working on his recall with a 60ft lead and that's coming on as well!!
