To be honest, like your parents, before I personally adopted another dog (non Husky) I told myself never in a million years do I want another dog, Blaze is a hellion! But, that being said, you know what changed MY mind?
When I actually went and saw her. She was NOTHING like Blaze, she was calm, sweet, didn't bite, and I knew she NEEDED a home. MAYBE, just maybe, if you can SHOW your parents a dog (in person) who's calm, and well behaved, perhaps they might stop thinking in the back of their minds, 'Oh god, I don't want another psycho dog' kind of thing.
Nick had to practically drag me down to yet another shelter...We had been to at least 5 of the damn things before we came across the shelter that had Lilah (aka LOLA) and by then, I had my heart set, 'Nope, no more dogs, I don't want TWO bastards ripping around my house and destroying it.' Then we got to the run that had Lilah in it. She just sat there, and waited...Didn't bark, didn't jump up, just sat there, big brown eyes, pleading with me to pet her, but she wasn't going to be pushy, she wagged her tail a little, but not too much to make me think she was hyper, so I took her kennel card information to the front desk, they let us keep her in a room for over two hours, and after the 3 hour adoption process and information gathering, we took her home, and it was the best decision I EVER made...Blaze is a PERFECT ANGEL now.
Just a story/scenario for your parents to consider. Good luck Elyse
