  1. Definitely a vote for carrots here. When Kodi was a pup, I also parboiled quartered potatoes and froze them when he was teething, he loved them.
  2. I use carrots too, he really enjoys them and the vet commented on how good his teeth were, they're very clean and white!
  3. Kodi is lazy too. He loves his walks, but also loves curling up or spreading out on the sofa! Sometimes if I leave for work at 6:30am, he won't even go out into the garden, and on the evenings before bed, I sometimes have to chase him out his bed to for a wee! Lazy boy! He's never destroyed anything (touch wood) and seems very content. He still has the usual husky traits, but people are often surprised when I tell them how lazy he is!
  4. Kodi loves carrots too, and they're really good for their teeth, he has them instead of dental chews and the vet has said he has really good teeth! He used to like apples (cores/pips removed) but doesn't seem keen on much else! Have to be careful with fruits that have pips/stones/stems/leaves as some can be poisonous.
  5. The one I go to don't have anymore around the country, but up here there's lots of them popping up all over the place! I would maybe try googling 'dog day care' or 'dog crèche'. For me, it's about £30 for 8 hours, which is about the going rate. Hopefully you'll have somewhere nearby.
  6. I take Kodi to doggy day care! He loves it, that's in a big warehouse where they can have a good run around, lots to play with etc. and they take them out on walks to, and to the beach. It costs a little bit, but I usually only take him once a week, he's shattered when he come home and always gets really excited when we're on our way there coz he knows the route! They've been doing 'social' evenings too where you can go with your dog one night a week and stay there for an hour with other dogs and owners instead of leaving them. It's a great place and is really useful for me!
  7. Thanks, I'll have a look at Hooner. The only thing I'm thinking of with the belt is gaining control of him if dogs are oncoming etc, do you use the extendable with your belt or a line? Obviously the extendable is easier to gain control with a quick reel in, I don't want to end up with friction burns with a line, because he can get a bit over excited and is pretty strong!
  8. Yeah chicken or cheese *usually* work, unless there's something more interesting! But it's worth a try, thanks
  9. Thanks, will try that from tomorrow.
  10. Kodi is 2 years old and he is always walked using a Julius K9 harness and an extendable lead. We use the extendable because it gives him chance to have a bit of a run about, as a lot of our walking places are fields/tracks. Problem is, Kodi seems to forget that he is actually still attached and he will run full pelt, which jolts me and him. He's pulled me over once, going downhill at the beach and I'm currently waiting for physio on my shoulder and taking a variety of painkillers for muscle and nerve damage :/ I can cope fine with him on a short lead, he pulls towards other dogs because he just wants to play, but he is quite responsive to my commands and will walk to heal. I do have a steel shock absorber between the harness and lead, but I'm not actually sure it makes any difference! I have tried calling to him as he takes off etc, but the ears are down and off he goes, I just have to brace myself! Other than no longer using the extendable lead are there any suggestions please? I am looking into a walking belt, as I've just started running with him too and the belt would make it much more manageable with him, but I don't want him to pull me over! Any advice appreciated, thank you.
  11. I'll get some pics up soon
  12. This is mine, got it almost 4 years ago...not to everyone's taste, but I like it. It did hurt, but it was bearable. Planning another 2 at the moment for each foot!
  13. Helloo, some of you might remember me from a few months ago, had some 'issues' with the bf, stressful time, however we're all sorted. Still a happy little family with a bright future I missed the site, did pop back now and then for a few searches! Kodi is 10 months now, he's well behaved, a cheeky little scamp when he wants to be. Blowing his coat at the moment, and isn't too keen on the brush, so that's fun! Ha! Nice to be back, off to catch up! Gem x
  14. Thank you for the replies. After lengthy discussions it's been decided that Kodi will live with Andy. It's not going to be easy for him, but he'll cope better than I will be able to and it'll be a better situation for Kodi. It absolutely breaks my heart as he is my little baby and I have put all the time and effort in with him with his training etc. Andy and I are civil and will hopefully remain friends, he has said I can see/have Kodi whenever I want. This is such an awful situation and I never ever want to go through it again, don't think I will ever get another dog
