  1. If the breeder is reputable, they will have proper documentation on all their breed dogs, including vet records. I would say there is no such thing as a health guarantee, as with people, a puppy/adult dog can get sick regardless of their genetics. I am pro rescues, as both of mine are from the shelter. Most Huskies in shelters/pounds, were most likely "papered dogs" that escaped from their homes. I would advise you to you to check the shelters first. If you have the time, as you say you do, you can train a shelter dog just like a puppy. Example, I didn't know what Shadow's name was before he was in the shelter. He now responds to his name and I have taught him lots of things, and he is about 4-5 years old. I love the feeling and knowing that I saved my boys lives and knowing that they love me even more for saving them. Good luck with your search and which ever route you choose to take!
  2. Shadow likes to take his kibble, about 4-5 pieces, out his bowl, bring it to the living room, eat it off the floor, then return to his bowl and finish his food in the bowl.......Is there some instinct thing to this or is it just a strange habit? Anyone else has a strange eating habit or strange habbit in general?
  3. As stated, I would never leave him alone around the pups, or let the pups play with each other while he is around (it gets rough). If the baby is not here yet, then take some time to research prepping a dog for a baby. Some things we did, were not give them all of out attention like they were use to getting, playing crying baby clips off youtube, setting baby things (swing, bouncer, ect) up, washing baby clothes, letting them smell the detergent scent, and letting them get use to those things pre baby. We would walk them with an empty stroller, and carry a baby doll around the house, sitting with it, rocking it, setting it down in the equipment, so they would get use to seeing us with it and dicipline as need when they tried to lick in the face, paw, ect. We set the boundries pre baby, so most of it was maintance when the baby got here.
  4. EVO http://www.evopet.com/products More expensive that TOTW (US-$60.00 for a 28lb bag). I've tried the TOTW, but they liked EVO better and they don't eat every day, so a bag last me close to 4 weeks. I would say as long as it's grain free and good quality, you can't go wrong.
  5. She is like "those wolves look so fake"
  6. Most Huskies, mine for sure, often skip meals or only eat once a day. Are you free feeding him or schedule feeding? I feed my 3 EVO( http://www.naturapet.com/brands/evo) By breed standards, he is at good weight @52lbs. I can only assume that she wants him @ 65lbs due the heartworm procedure. Are you doing the Immiticide (fast kill) treatment? If so,the dog must be kept confined and his physical exertion kept to an absolute minimum, and that would make sense why you are trying to get him to 65lbs. I've learned that a dog will not starve themselves to death (unless the dog is very ill). He will eat when he gets hungry, trust me.
  7. Hoping for a good recovery! You are lucky that they even came home!
  8. Rescue one...I'm sure there are plenty that need a home in your area
