  1. These are beautifully expressive. Well done!!
  2. just seen your post on shoutbox, talk to staceybob about the wydwl harnesses :)

  3. hi mary. long time no see,, staceybob is your lady for the wydwl harnessess.. see you soon

  4. Hi there, I was very interested until I got to the statement which said dogs are not allowed. Have I misread the rules or were they promoting the lodges for you AND your dogs???
  5. So sorry for you and the huskies, hope they're better very soon:cry1:
  6. Hi Naomi, I'm an artist who has just read your thread about drawing/painting Kira. My husky's also called Kira! I haven't actually painted many dogs yet, but please feel free to visit my website:www.christieart.org to get a feel for my style. If you're not fixed up yet and are interested in what I could do for you, please contact me here or on the website.
  7. Hi Marie, I just love the dynamic brushstrokes & texture you've built up in this painting! When I make the time, I'm going to paint a series of my husky Kira and I just hope they'll look this good! Keep it up!!
  8. Hi Naomi, I agree with all the comments so far, and would add that trying a different medium, for example charcoal, would help you to both increase the darker tones (press harder) and to also decrease the lighter tones (just flick off the charcoal with your finger or a tissue). Aim for a minimum of 5 tones (shades of light to dark) but 9 or 10 are better! Enjoy, 'cos you're already demonstrating good drawing skills, and practice will give you the confidence to relax & get a bit more arty farty.www.christieart.org
  9. Hi, I'm an artist and I just had to tell you that I think your drawing is excellent! Keep sketching whenever you have a moment, 'cos you've shown a real flair for capturing the real dog. The viewer can see you have a connection to that mut!
  10. :wave1:Ditto that! My Kira is very strong & used to pull my shoulder out of joint when just walking, so imagine how it hurt when she chased a fox! I often came home covered in mud and nearly in tears, because walking her was what she needed, but it was paintful and demoralising for me when she just took off and dragged me with her. But since I received my wydwl harness, she responds to the slightest tug on the lead and goes left or right at my direction. She's still very keen to chase birds, squirrels, rabbits, floating leaves etc... but she hasn't pulled me to the ground or dislocated my shoulder since we got it. She stands & stares but seems to accept she can't take off. Walking with her is an absolute pleasure now, to the extent that I take her with me on my volunteer walk leader walks with members of the public, and both they and she are happy with her behaviour. Word of warning, please get the right size - Kira is slightly between sizes, and now has a bald patch where the harness rubs beneath her arm a little. I'm keeping my eye on it, as I've heard huskies are prone to skin problems, but overall I'd thoroughly recommend this harness. Good luck!
  11. AWWWWW!, I soooooooo empathise with you!!! My Kira is a lovable, cuddly, kissable, biddable (bitch) almost most of the time. BUT, she has times when she tries to bite me or eat her lead, like when she 's not ready to go home, or when she's grabbed food I don't want her to have (E.G. gum/chips etc.. off the pavement or fieldmice in the hedgerows. (yes, I know she's doing what comes natural, but it still frightens me, & sometimes it's just because she wants her own way!!!) Having 2 huskies must double the risks of this kind of behaviour.... However, I learned very quickly that she must have only 1 master/mistress, and my husband & I decided that that would be me, as I spend the longest time with her each day. Now he tells everyone that she's my dog, not his. She jumps up at him, sometimes trying to bite him, but she rarely tries that on with me, and she obeys me more quickly when I command her to get down from him or visitors. Persevere, work out a plan with your other half - then stick to it. Over time it will pay dividends. :wave1:Good luck, let me know how you get on.....

    Treats

My 1 year-old husky bitch loves 2 eat everything! Chewing gum, crisps etc.. from pavements; plus most types of veg. when I'm preparing dinner e.g. potato peelings, courgettess, even celery - but not carrots. She also loves egg shells, but prefers tops of boiled eggs containing some cooked egg. But I bought, and occassionally use, a gentle muzzle to stop her grazing everything in sight, most of which is poisonous to her in some form. Just bought her a rear seat harness belt, and it's fabulous! Without it she'd nibble my ear, lick my mouth - all whilst driving!! It also keeps her so much calmer, especially when my grandson is in passenger seat.... So, I'd recommend researching the best tools & equipment for your dog's habits, then have fun using them!! Good luck.....
  13. Good Luck - fingers and everything else are crossed!!
  14. OOOOOH, I felt every word of this and I hope it gave you some comfort during the early stages of your loss of Milo. Take care
  15. What a gorgeous dog, I'm so sorry you lost him so soon, but it's clear he'll always be in your memories. Those fab photos must make you both sad and glad at the same timexxx
