  1. You have to be super aware of internet scams....there are a number of scam sites that will steal pics of dogs and puppies off of reputable sites and pose them as their own to swindle people out of their money. So very sorry you had to go through all of this mess.
  2. Oh wow! Thanks everyone, lots of great pics to choose from I'm floored!
  3. I prefer this style 'snap' on my leads- But you should be able to find rated carabiners of various sizes in any climbing supply store or online-
  4. Currently have 11, my cut off is 20. I want to have a 16 dog team someday
  5. All puppies have worms, and unless the breeder wormed the litter and mom they likely were not parasite free. Also it has a lot to do with which wormer medication you use, Strongid is a very typical wormer the vet gives. It's a yellow banana smelling paste injected into the mouth, within hours you'll see worms passing in the stool. HOWEVER if this treatment is not repeated in 14 days you have a re-infested puppy as the eggs those worms you saw pass days earlier have now hatched and started reproducing. To me this has always been an inconvenience. I have started treating my whole kennel annually with Fenbendazole, which is a white liquid goat wormer that is either injected into the mouth or squirted onto the food, it treats not only round worm, but various other parasites as well as kills the eggs (also treats giardia). Treat 5 days in a row and you are good to go worm free. You have to be diligent cleaning the potty areas and bleaching once the treatment is complete to prevent reinfection through ground transfer. Either treatment you should of course consult your vet.
  6. Thank you all I couldn't have imagined a better addition for the team or for the family very well rounded dog
  7. He looks husky enough, but without proof they can't really say that he is for sure since there is no way of really knowing. If he's just going to be a companion animal does it really matter? Love comes in all forms-
  8. Mason has been with us for just about a month now, so I thought I'd introduce him! Mason is a 6 year old neutered male AKC Siberian Husky from racing lines. He is now the main leader on our team and has many years in harness behind him. He's truly been an amazing addition, complete affectionate love bug and monster worker in harness. One of the best all around dogs I've had the pleasure of knowing
  9. Mason has been with us for almost a month now. Great addition, really brought the team to a new level Denali is doing good between dumb things he does. He tore a pad on Thanksgiving, finally got that healed up and he broke a nail on this run so I was brought down to a 3 dog team day 2. Oh well so it goes.
  10. Yeah Mason is our most recent addition. He is an AKC Siberian Husky from Tumnatki Siberians. He's a 6 year old veteran Gee/Haw trained lead dog and such a LOVE! He's an awesome well rounded dog, happy lovey family member and beast in harness
  11. I feed my whole kennel TOTW as well, Salmon in the summer months where the caloric demands are lower and Bison/Venison formula when we are under higher caloric demands. I can't say enough about this food, we love it! It keeps my dogs in top condition whether we're showing or sledding or just being lazy couch dogs!
  12. Team Keahi competed in our first ever snow race! 5 miles in West Yellowstone MT happily finishing 2nd with some happy puppies and musher Lead Dogs- Denali Mason Wheel Dogs- Dakota Juneau Out on the trail-
  13. No way, 20lbs is way over for a 10 week old! My girls at 10 weeks weighed about 8lbs now at 6.5 months weigh 27lbs. Huskies are not big dogs! But I wonder if he is a mix, his ears should have stood up by now.
  14. I'd take the dogs waking me at the crack of dawn vs my crazy work schedule any day! Holidays equal higher call volume, I can't tell you the last full night sleep.
  15. These days I could sleep for a whole day! I'd like to get at least 6 hours- when I can any way.
  16. Mine wear theirs all the time. We use a limited slip White Pine collar. Easy to grab if someone tries to make a break for it.
  17. I'm working this year, but usually we do a Prime Rib with a horseradish crust, cream mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, dinner rolls, and some type of pie for dessert....great now I'm hungry!
  18. My morning starts with- On a rare occasion we do make a decent breakfast.
  19. I'd suggest spaying her just in the sense of she isn't a breeding candidate. She might put on a couple lbs but structurally she's not built to be stocky.
  20. I'd definitely say it's just her build. She's not much in the amount of bone department so I wouldn't expect her to be heavy in build.
  21. Here's mine! Every Breath You Take- The Police
  22. Sorry you said gums I thought lips. Gums can be spotty, lips should not be. HFD is genetic and some breeders and studies are starting to link the disorder in some forms to poor pigmentation. There is no known treatment of the disorder that I have found or heard of. Which is why it's so important to choose good pigment in a breeding candidate.
  23. According to the owner yes, no warning signs until he was 10 or 11 (I forget) when his black turned brown/red
  24. His gums should not be spotty, that to me indicates he has a pigment issue. I'd keep watch on the spreading of the hyper-pigmentation. Luckily HFD seems to be a more rare thing but the dog that I posted was fine until he turned 12...they said prior to that his black hair turned redish brown and then started falling out.
