  1. Well, I took these photos then got sent out on a very large wildland fire in my state, I was gone a whole 11 days and came back barely recognizing my girls they have grown so much! I will be taking some pics tomorrow and updating, can't believe how much I have missed!!! Feels good to be back though
  2. To answer you both I use a Nikon D300s with a 70-300mm 2.5f lens typically set on fine large quality JPEG, sometimes I use RAW but many internet formats don't accept that format without conversion.
  3. I got a Dyson 6 years ago from Target, and with 11 Nordics it has been keeping the husky hair tumbleweeds at bay. We have limited carpet but it's a beast on the area rugs, I must say I'm very pleased!
  4. Denali's Nose- Juneau's Nose Timber's Nose Dakota's Nose Rockie's Nose Tikaani's Nose Diamond's Nose Enya's Nose Kenna's Nose
  5. I don't have any human children, and can't say I'm fond of them. I am so sick of parents these days thinking their kids don't need any structure or discipline. To think that human children can run rampant screaming and doing whatever they want while I have leash laws and only certain places I'm allowed to go with my 'kids' that are at least better behaved than most people's children drives me batwackie! I've seen parent's more concerned with being their kids BFFs than actually parent or think their children don't need guidance or direction because they are just miniature adults. Where do people come up with these ideas!?!
  6. Nice idea! But like the others, it takes the 'offenders' actually reading the warnings! On a Side note, do they make them for people? If so I need the first one, kids scare me!
  7. I have a few similar peeves when it comes to other dog owners....the not picking up after them being top on my list. Not keeping their dogs properly contained to their properties and/or their dogs coming onto my property to fence fight my properly contained dogs. The ones that think they know more about your breed than you do. The ones that think they are 'wolves'. The ones that try to smother your dog while you are out without asking. The ones that accuse your dog of being mean because of a scar from their past lives without knowing their history.
  8. Thank you all. We are so proud to have gotten to know him, even though it wasn't until his twilight years. He was still a wonderful boy and patriarch to his family. Our girls were the last litter to get to enjoy Grandpa Drifter, who always adored his puppies and loved playing nanny to them. This is a sight that will be sorely missed at Susan's-
  9. Drifter, the grandsire to our Kenna and Enya, passed away last night at 11:50.
  10. I use musher's secret on my dogs when we are working them to protect their feet its wax based if I recall. My friend uses the perfect paw balm to correct poorly maintained paws on her rescues that have overgrowth calluses, she says it's all natural and absorbs quickly so if they lick at it no worries, plus it smells good!
  11. There should be a bit of roughness to the pad, like a callus, too supple and the pad will be too delicate and tear easier. You can order products specifically for paws that can help with some of the roughness without compromising the pad like Musher's Secret and Perfect Paw Balm.
  12. Perfectly honest he looks like he is in excellent shape! There is a nice waist line as well as a tuck up behind his rib cage indicating a flat fit belly (vs no tuck up or bulge indicating fatty).
  13. Being scared or not scared of things is not so much breed specific as it is exposure to different things, confidence, and overall personality type. Our Aspen is terrified of thunder, but she didn't get as much young exposure as a pup as the others did and she is the smallest of all of our dogs (mini Aussie) so she definitely lacks in the confidence department.
  14. Dakota 15 weeks Dakota last winter 8 years Juneau 8 weeks Juneau 6 years Denali 12 weeks Denali 19 months Kenna 2 days old Kenna today 12 weeks old Enya 1 week Enya today at 12 weeks
  15. Your's will eventually match up to his mask color Andy I bet you by 6-9months you'll have another 'look at the change' pic
  16. I think this question would be great to ask your breeder, you say they are reputable and if they have been doing this for any length of time they should be able to tell you more about what to expect from their lines than a picture will tell the rest of us. But, in my experience with newborns I find they are born with about the same color as they will end with. Markings change the most as they grow, especially with masking. They do go through a lightening or even color change as they get ready to drop the puppy coat to grow their adult coat, it can look quite bazaar for a while! But it is part of the fun of watching them grow!
  17. I saw the same thing with Denali, the bulk of his growth was done by the time he was 9months and from there just the slow process of filling out, which at 19 months he is still doing. Nothing to worry about I'd say it sounds like he's at a good weight with room to add the rest without being overly bulky.
  18. Kenna is bi-parti eyed- Enya has green eyes that I expect will go brown/amber as she ages Denali has dark brown eyes These dogs I didn't chose based on color or eye color but more based on their lineages, health proven, great temperaments, but my first two were definitely more of a 'cute puppy with blue eyes' pick that I don't regret either
  19. Thanks! We are very proud of our dad(girls)/grandpa(Denali)! We are fairly certain Enya is going to be about his same coloring and similar structure.
  20. Puppies are typically born as dark as they'll end, the markings change drastically, but typically retain the dark stripe down their back which will be their color as adults.
  21. Galena Creek's Dream Keeper 'Tiko' Owned by Susan Callahan Grand Sire to my Kaniska's Ashen Hotshot Denali Sire to my Galena Creek's Born Of Fire At Keahi 'Kenna' and Galena Creek's She's On Fire At Keahi 'Enya' At 4 years old taking a 5pt Major at a Specialty Show in WA Tiko at 8 years old, returning after many years out of the ring to claim his title.
  22. I just want to start off by saying SD is one of the worst foods I feel on the market today. Nothing but by-products, fillers, and chemicals. I do feed TOTW to all 11 of my kiddos and have never had an issue nor was our area affected by the dreaded recall. I love TOTW due to the fact it is a balanced food that works for all of my dogs (varying from 20lbs to 120lbs) no matter what we are currently doing with them.
  23. If you coil then wrap your long line like how you tie a rope for storage you don't end up with a tangled mess the next time you go to use it and it saves on storage space!
  24. I too feel like Austinville, if I wanted an off leash breed I would not have chosen a Siberian Husky. This is one of the limitations I knew going into the breed. Though there are people who will lead you to believe it can be done, those who are experienced and knowledgeable in the breed know better than to risk it. There are so many things you can do to fulfill the breed's unique needs and exercise requirements without risking their well being by risking an off lead accident. I feel that biking, scootering, and sledding my dogs brings me closer to them and is a more personalized form of exercising them vs off lead. They are my family and I don't want to risk their lives for anything.
