  6. Blue eyes often give the illusion of the eye being too round, which is a fault. And often judges just don't know how to compare things that are different. I see it a lot with my boy's Sire who is plush where most of the coats are not as plush as he is in the ring....when that happens he gets dumped. BUT if he's in the ring with another plush coat he'll get put up. This is of course when you are talking about all breed judges, a Siberian judge will know what they are looking at.
  7. Oh I don't know, and the breeder is making no claims of this being a show quality puppy at this stage of the game, we're just starting to look for our quality girl and she was just the only girl born of that litter so she's all we have to look at right now and the other litter is on it's way. I only said I can hope she's the one we've been waiting for But at this stage we can see coat quality, size of head, quality of stop, basically what their head piece is going to look like based on the lineage and kinda know from comparing to the rest of the litter who's who and what's what. If for some reason she ends up being the only girl but not of proper conformation or just not right for us I can and will defer my deposit and wait for another litter. What I'm looking for now to add to my kennel is a female of excellent conformation and solid color that will compliment what's currently in my show kennel (Denali and Takoda). My kennel is dilute and I need to add color into the mix. I'm returning to the breeder at the 6 week mark to re-evaluate, by then her bite should be set and there is a little more structure to evaluate and the other litter should be here by then so we can evaluate them as well.
  8. Tiko is a consistent producer of great color and build. I had the pleasure of meeting him this past weekend and he's not only a stunning dog but he's such a LOVE too! I did like both of the stud dogs (litter 1s dad and litter 2s dad) equally, both exquisite...just slightly different styles. I wish we could choose more than one but unfortunately only one is what we must choose and the choice has to be in the best interest of my kennel and show potential of the pup. It will be an exciting, yet I think difficult, decision but in 8-10 weeks we should have a for sure candidate.
  9. Haha! Mine did the same thing when we rotated our horses onto our secondary pasture for the first time Our horses weren't so sure LOL.
  10. This is dad of litter #2, not going to lie I am hoping for something like him.
  11. I do really like her look, but I am hopeful that the litter #2 will produce something that we can compare too. We have a long road ahead of us and won't be making this decision lightly!
  12. Oh yes VERY aware of the judges stigma toward anything not "normal" or just different. Which is why no decision has been made as of yet (beyond not being able to really evaluate a squishy). A good judge will look past the different face if the movement is dead on, but it would be a hard sell that is for sure. I deal with it with Denali, he's longer than what's showing out there now, but I think a lot of whats out there right now is too short coupled. He got passed over for a fluffy little Siberian even though Denali moved out better in the ring.
  13. At this point she is one that we are considering. The second litter is still brewing and I'm hoping to have a comparison soon Whichever girl ends up being of the best conformation to compliment my current line will be the one we choose. Although this little girl is quickly becoming a favorite
  14. If gorgeous was all I was after then she'd be the one for sure. If she turns out to be stellar in every way then she will be. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted and we'll see if I can sneak her to the UK if not
  15. Soft brush on a daily basis, this will help and it will also get your pup accustom to grooming routines so they don't freak out the first time at the groomers. Daily brushing will also promote healthy coat growth. When/If the tangles get too hard to brush out try the micro-brush.
  16. All dogs descend from wolves, but the Siberian even as ancient of a breed as they are is no more wolf than any other modern day domestic.
  17. I've found that when mine start to show signs of kennel elbow the flea comb or micro comb its sometimes called (the really narrow spaced straight comb) will work it out the best. That's just my experience.
  18. it's more unsightly than anything else, it can become discolored regular brushing will help and so will getting him up moving. How old is he? Laying stagnant for large portions of the day really is abnormal for a Siberian IMO.
  19. The hock is the rear "elbow"- But a lot of laying can be your cause of the elbow/hock ruffing.
  20. Dogs that lay on concrete or in crates a lot tend to get more matted in the elbow area. I've often heard it referred to kennel elbow.
  21. Thank you all We are very excited! I know it may seem a bit on the nutz-o side but we're looking forward to moving our kennel forward Right now its a waiting game, we'll be going back in a month (right at this little girl's 6 week mark) to re-evaluate and the breeder promised me weekly pictures. The second litter should be born by then too so we know if we have another girl to compare to.
  22. For those of you who don't know me or follow my kennel on Facebook, We're looking to add a quality girl to our show line! So far we are looking at a female born last week and waiting on a litter on the way. Both are Galena Creek Siberians and we're very excited! Pretty face girl, very open (lacking markings) and I'd just bet she has blue eyes. Left Side Profile Back- She has the coolest shawl! Right Side Profile Tummy Shot! Look she has a white X! X marks the spot?
