  1. Diamond stays inside most of the time due to the surgical steel in her legs...she has no tolerance of the temp swings. Rockie is inside in the summer but outside in the winter, he recently started having heat stroke issues and the house it too warm even at 73F. The rest have the run of their outdoor kennel runs and have rotating house time or house time after say going to the vet or groomer as a reward. I find that mine enjoy their house time but are equally happy to be outside. We spend a lot of time with them outside in the large play yard
  2. You might ask around, it's odd I've been living/working where I am for 6 years and didn't even know that weight pulls were being held literally across the street from one of our stations. It's fun just to watch the different styles of dogs doing what they do! Thank you Vlad!
  3. Let me add that in weigh in Zapper weighed 43lbs, he pulled a total of 960lbs day 1 and 1020lbs day 2...that's 23x his weight! He achieved his WD Title (working dog) and first leg to his WDX Title (working dog excellent). This is his first year pulling competitively!
  4. It is hard work but like you said you can see how much fun he's having. This started as a bragging right competition between mushers in Alaska way back in the day....now the sport is over run by pitbulls and mastiffs....but we're still out there holding true to the sports origin! I hope to train Denali to this as well Zapper pulled 1020lbs 16ft in under 60sec. The rules are the dog and cart must pass the finish line (16ft from start) in 60sec or less for it to count. And since PeTA disapproves of pet ownership in general they'd have plenty to protest about LOL!
  5. Thanks for the likes Zap did so well and he did have so much fun doing it, he truly was a blast to watch! I put Denali on the cart for the first time but he didn't pull, it was still too confusing to him the amount of resistance I think he'll get it though! He's a young one still
  6. LOL when I read that I thought the same thing, sounds like Petsmart training! We tried it with our first. Our trainer told us we'd never have a Siberian walk loose leash without walking aid gimmicks that he could sell us....He also told us we were wasting our time in obedience class with a Siberian since they are not obedient dogs. We walked away without looking back. Our dog was for the better for it.
  7. This is my friend's dog (she also is the breeder I got Denali from) Ziemabora's High Voltage at Kaniska "Zapper" who pulled #960 yesterday earning his working dog title and pulled #1020 today earning his first leg to his Working Dog Excellent title today. I took these pics and wanted to share another aspect of my photography-
  8. I'd be looking for a different trainer....
  9. When my kiddos teeth start looking like they could use a clean I drop some baby carrots in their food. it's been working great for years.
  10. I vaccinate yearly with a dog that is out showing a lot, who knows what he gets exposed to while out with other unknown dogs. I do know he brought kennel cough home and it got our shepherd mixes and our aussie girl....the Siberians never showed symptoms but I did medicate them all anyway. with 10 dogs it's not just a hassle it's an epidemic.
  11. Dakota (purebred) was a quiet dog until we got our second (also purebred) she taught him how to speak husky our first mix was born deaf so she wasn't picking up on the chatter.
  12. Denali just blew his puppy coat at 15mos. Juneau blew her's at 6mos with her first heat. Each one develops at their own rate, enjoy the lack of fur flying while you can
  13. I get mine bones, usually monthly. No issues and the teeth are nice and clean.
  14. Many areas are banning them as a whole, WA state just passed a code giving Fish and Game the right to kill on site any dog believed to be Wolfdog since there are no studies to validate the rabies vaccine being effective and many of my friends both WD owners and Siberian owners have been harassed by F&G having wardens state "if it howls it's wolf". Gross if you ask me! For now I just enjoy and protect my kids So here's another pic for you of my lovely boy:
  15. Thank you irene Timber is thought to be a wolf-dog we rescued him from a bad situation a couple years ago.
  16. Yep kennel cough tore through this area about a month ago too...only my shepherd crosses and aussie were really effected but we medicated everyone. I think Denali brought it back from a dog show with him. The virus sheds in the stool for the duration of the med cycle...so be sure to be picking up the poo too. Feel better soon!
  17. I don't walk mine as often as I should, which I plan to change if we ever get good weather for more than a day but they always get their outside play time in the yard which seems fulfilling for them. They are a happy bunch
  18. Thank you Valkyries! SOOOOO True Thank you mydiamond! We think Timber's pretty special too
  19. Thank you It was so nice I wished I didn't have to go to work tonight! Tomorrow is supposed to be yucky again so glad I got to spend a sunny day with my kiddos
  20. So True! It was impossible to say no to either of them. The last picture in this series of Rockie cuddling up to my leg, that is exactly what he did when we first met at the shelter I found him at. He put his big head in my tummy and pushed me over so he could cuddle up in my lap. (It was a bit different when he was 60lbs not his current 110lbs though!) He laid there and wagged his tail and looked up at me with "ok you can take me home now" look. I was hooked right then and there, hubs didn't really get a say ROFL!
