1. no i completely agree with that. health checks are important, but so is temperament. Obviously i don't agree with all un neutered males being used as studs, considering we have a HUGE population of homeless animals as it is. like i said before i'm not recommending that he breed his dog, i personally think it should be left up to knowledgeable breeders. I was simply stating that just because he breeds his MALE dog doesn't mean he technically has responsibility of the puppies. I only know this because my parents AKC registered, pure-bred Lab is not neutered and several people stop my mother daily and ask her if she is interested in using him as a stud. She says he's her baby though and won't.
2. i bought one for the cheap on ebay. Havent had to use it yet as luka's still so little. I think im going to purchase a slicker brush though and start grooming him with that for now. <--- made me a believer
3. What do you mean his dog's behavioral problem? What problem? I didn't see where he said his dog had one. Medical problems arise in stud dogs? huh? Sorry i'm completely lost. Maybe you don't know what i mean or you have a different definition for a stud dog. Example: My friend had a really pretty, well-behaved, healthy pitbull. (he's a male) He never had him neutered, (why im not sure) and when a friend who knows what they're doing asked him to breed his dog with hers he agreed. Basically, you usually get paid a sum of money to let them use your male dog. Sometimes they give you a puppy instead, basically whatever you wind up agreeing to.
4. but i thought generally if he is breeding his dog (studwise) he won't be in charge of the puppies. i'm not trying to recommend he go breeding his dog but he doesn't have the female. Many reputable breeders will pay a studfee to use his dog if he has the proper documentation, good health, looks, etc. But def a good idea to wait if youre a full time student.
5. he has a boy. LOL he said im looking for a partner for HIM.
6. i know! i came close to turning it off but i made it through! then in my emotional state im like i need an akita to play with luka. mind you, he was sleeping throughout all my hysterics and woke up only one to look at me like shut up lady. he then went right back to sleep. LOL isn't it crazy how the basis of the story (the dog waiting for its owner by the train after he dies) is an actual true story? what a loyal pet. i have a weak spot for senior dogs anyways so when i saw him elderly STILL waiting i just lost it. lol thankfully no one else was home.

Hachi

Last night i watched the movie Hachiko: A dog's tale. beautiful akita, but so SAD! anyone who is a serious dog lover (basically everyone on this forum) be prepared to cry. such a sweet story about a loyal dog. i felt crazy last night sitting there balling like a baby over a movie. It's always the animal movies that get me, not so much humans.
8. i would make him less stubborn. however, sometimes i think i get what i deserve. i'm extremely stubborn and it is kinda fitting that i get a furbaby who tests me all the time.
9. it's crazy how much their eye color changes. and btw juno's ears in that picture are ADORABLE. lololol i love gsd.
10. no they are both the exact same. parti-colored in both. shadowing is probably making it look darker. that's what surprises me, is both eyes look like that! yeah, they def change A LOT. he's growing like a weed.
11. that is the one the most beautiful puppies i've ever seen! oh my goodness. love him! beautiful pack too. love the family photos!
12. thanks! that's what i was thinking is that theyre just going to wind up being both colors. i love them though!
13. This is the best I could get of the Little brat. see how the blue is getting lighter but there's more brown. They've stayed the exact same for two weeks now.
14. study hard! lol what a reward!
15. but welcome! i'm also from the states so i'm not sure about bakers. anybody in this forum can tell you though, they're all wonderful!

Pet Insurance

that's my major worry. i buy pet insurance, luka gets ill, and then they won't cover it.
17. i would't go as far as saying blue buffalo is "amazing". unless youre going to go with the wilderness blue buffalo i would choose something grain free, or atleast close to being grain free. kibbles and bits is one of the worst dog foods out there. i would NEVER feed my dog that. taste of the wild, EVO, orijen, and blue buffalo wilderness are all ranked 5 star, with kibbles and bits being a 1. regular blue buffalo is ranked 3 stars. that should tell you something about the quality. i'm not sure if you know or not, but good dog food isn't cheap, but it's worth it. i can honestly say you can tell a difference.
18. that's what i was wondering is if one eye was going to be parti-colored. i can def see brown but then its like the blue is lightening up instead of darkening to brown. i'm going to upload a recent pic of his eyes this afternoon. the pic i included he was 7 weeks.
19. the worst part is the lady had had the puppy for like not even a month? i got Luka the 26th of april and most other people picked up their puppies a few days before me. come to find out the lady posted the puppy on craigslist for $100 rehoming fee. luckily it was a decent guy who found her, well according to him someone had stomped her paw and broken almost every bone. He said when he purchased her they had included a splint on her paw, he said he immediately took her to the vet. Well, the break was never set or treated by a vet, so now she has to have surgery on it. He said even though the dog was not originally his, he was 100% dedicated to paying ALL the vet bills and making sure stormy becomes healthy. he included this sweet picture of her. she def looks like shes being treated better. He said he had to also get her second set of shots because her previous owner never bothered.
20. my breeder posted a quick thread on their website about how a nice man notified them that he had recently obtained one of their puppies. (from the previous owner) The poor puppy has worms, an injured leg, and other health issues now. The breeder assured us all that this person would never be allowed to purchase a puppy from them again and this is the reason that so many measures are taken to obtain a puppy from them in the first place! They have a clause in their contract where if you don't wish to keep your puppy you must return him/her to them. obviously that didn't happen, and luckily a nice man wound up with her instead of someone evil. this just really ticks me off. it was a sweet sister of lukas. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR:angry:
21. omg they are so cute!!!!!!
22. how could i not? i love it here. so addicting though. haha
