  1. I bought one for Blaze recently and he loves it! He used to run away from the ShedMonster I had bought, but now he just lays there and lets me brush him! He even kicks his leg when I get on his stomach! If you could see the amount of fur I got off of him, you wouldn't believe he has any left!
  2. Careful with TOTW..Diamond's recalling it as well. I'm leaving Diamond forever. After a non-recalled brand of their food gave my friend's husky/wolf mix salmonella (even though it wasn't from the Gaston, SC plant) I'm afraid to go back. I fed my Blaze the same exact formula as my friend did, from the same exact pallet, bought at the same exact time. *shudders* It just hit a little TOO close to home...
  3. Okay, for starters, I am trying to find food for our dogs that is better for them. They did well on Kirkland's Signature Adult (Chicken) and Puppy, but, after the last Diamond recall and my friend's wolf/husky mix getting salmonella from the non-recalled Puppy formula, I took them off of it. Here is what they are on now: Blaze: almost 9 months old, last weight: 67 lbs, height: 2' at shoulders- Iams SmartPuppy Large Breed Formula Comet: approx. 7 years old, last weight: 13.5 lbs, height: roughly 18" at shoulders- EverPet adult (I know...ewww..) Here is what I am considering: Blaze- Merrick Gourmet Entree Puppy Plate http://www.petco.com/product/113161/Merrick-Gourmet-Entree-Puppy-Plate-Dry-Puppy-Food.aspx Note: The Gourmet Entree series has received a 4-star rating from dogfoodadvisor.com Comet- Merrick Gourmet Entree Cowboy Cookout http://www.petco.com/product/113157/Merrick-Gourmet-Entree-Cowboy-Cookout-Dry-Dog-Food.aspx OR Merrick Gourmet Entree Wilderness http://www.petco.com/product/113160/Merrick-Gourmet-Entree-Wilderness-Blend-Dry-Dog-Food.aspx The question is: Is the Puppy Plate formula good for Blaze, seeing as how he is abnormally large thanks to the Gravy Train and fried chicken he was given up until he was 6 months old, or should I stick with the Iams SmartPuppy Large Breed formula? Any comments or advice on this would be much appreciated. I want to do what's best for the dogs for what I can afford, I thought I was doing that on Kirkland's, but I was wrong.
  4. Thanks for answering, SA DA KA. I hope you have better luck than I have had. Our miniature pinscher nearly got killed last night by Blaze because he went into Blaze's doghouse and tried to claim it as his. It's amazing how stupid Comet is. You would think that after 3 times of nearly getting his head ripped off because he was resource guarding Blaze's food and water bowls, that he would have learned to stop by now...Crotchety old bastard...

  5. @Kishirian Greetings from Vermont, your questions with a two part answer. The "S" stands for Site Sponsor which means we have made donations to the Forum. Your Avatar name will appear in a block style blue if you are a sponsor, if you see it in red it indicated Staff member. Wishing you a wonderful weekend and Hugs to your Fur-kids.

  6. I have a question..maybe you can answer. What does blue letters mean for usernames and what is that strange "S" thing beside the username?

  7. Have you tried the Furminator (around $50) or the less-expensive, but just as good ShedMonster (around $20-$30) at PetSmart?
  8. he didn't shed much, more so on his tail than anywhere else, mydiamond
  9. *laughs* Thanks for the welcomes, everyone. As far as him being a mix, that's a negative. He's got full-blooded AKC parents with papers. I guess he's just abnormal, like my friend's grandfather's old timber wolf, Oxbow. He was full-blooded and weighed 300-350 lbs and had a head that was about 10-11 inches wide. Here are all of the pics to date (I don't think you all realized what you were asking for...lol) 1. the very first picture I ever got of him- from his previous owner at 6 months 2. close-up of his eyes by his previous owner 3-14. when he was 6 months old, almost 7 months (done with cell phone and digital camera 15-26. when he was 7 months old 27-30. current age of 8 months
  10. My name is Casey, I'm 24 (25 in October), I have 2 college diplomas and will be working on my Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology soon. I have my beautiful boy, Blaze, who is an AKC Siberian Husky (reg. Kishirian's Celtic Blaze). He was born 9/10/11 (no joke!) and is a light red with ice blue eyes. He's pretty big for his size, measuring at 2' at shoulder and 67lbs (last vet visit when he was 7 months). He's working on one growth spurt and and has one left, the vet suspects he may get as big as 100lbs. His front paws measure 3" wide by 6.5" long from wrist. His previous owner said that his father was about 3.5' tall at ear-tips sitting down, Blaze is 3' at ear-tips sitting down. We have had him since he was 6 months and 9 days old. We live with my boyfriend, John, and his 7 year old AKC Miniature Pinscher, Comet. Once we are able to get a bigger place (currently a 2 bedroom duplex), we have decided to get another husky and name it Diva. I would want that one to be either a black, black & white, agouti, or sable female.
  11. Sora, are you the same one from It's a Husky Thing? I recognize your username from chat and Bodhi's name.
