  5. Congrats! Your weekend was a lot more successful than mine, but we had fun nonetheless. He looks to be just about as naked as my girl right now though-- the cons of showing in the summer

  9. So glad the meds seem to be working! Keeping my fingers crossed that he will get better~ I've never seen a dog have a seizure, but we used to get a goldendoodle at the kennel that had seizures. His eye was also messed up, it was clouded over and bent backwards, which was most likely due to a brain tumor. He was only 2. It's such a shame. unfortunately, there is only so much you can do at that point :/
  10. I have people who swear they are mixed with wolf too! Juno looks more like a wolf than Cato, but they're just so calm and creepy in public that I guess many people think they are mixed with wolf haha
  11. Yea Juno mouths as well, and she's over a year. Cato does as well, a lot more gentle though, but still mouthy. They are just a breed that prefer to play with their mouths, as do wolves :3
  12. The main thing I don't like about that food is that it has random meat in it. In the US, that would mean anything, but since the UK has different regulations, I'm sure it won't make them ill like beneful does to dogs here. Everyone else is right though, it doesn't matter if it's the best food in the world-- it won't keep them healthy if they won't eat it
  13. This is horrific. What's more upsetting is that there is a new generation of kids arising that find this funny or cool that have absolutely no empathy for this kind of thing-- it's barbaric and unsettling what these psychopaths did.
  14. So I hear this probably every day when I'm out with the dogs in public. The same questions, over and over. "So how bad is the shedding?" "How do they do in this weather?" "Do they dig a lot?" "I heard they are escape artists, do yours try to run a lot?" "Are they super destructive?" "I had a neighbor/boyfriend/husband/friend with a husky that (insert 30 minute long story)" Anyone else ever have people approach you and ask tons of questions? any weird questions?
  15. I think there is a time and place to use them if all other methods have not been successful, or if the issue is that you aren't able to control the dog in a certain situation (for example, a dog park where they refuse to listen to commands due to excitement), but I don't completely hate them. I've seen them work, and I've seen them not work. It depends on the person using it, and whether or not they use it correctly. For a puppy, I feel like they are too young for it to be effective and could lead to more negative consequences.
  16. What are you feeding him? It could be that he's chewing his feet due to a food allergy, and if you switched to something he doesn't react to, he may stop chewing without the need of steroids.
  17. Juno will get up and walk away if someone at the park tries to pet her. She loves strangers that enter the house, and loves it when I come home, but besides that I kind of have to grab her and hug her. She will tolerate it and close her eyes almost like she's thinking the more she sits still the faster I will finish kissing her face. Cato is kind of the same way, only he sleeps on my bed and will tolerate my petting for a certain amount of time, but still not big on cuddling.
  18. What food are you feeding him? It may be that he can't tolerate it very well. Also, it is very possible that he's just slightly stressed due to the new environment. I've found that huskies are more of a sensitive breed (though stubborn so they don't act like they are), so they tend to be a little different before finally settling in to a new home. As long as he's drinking though, I wouldn't worry because boycotting food is pretty common with huskies. My female didn't eat for days after we had to return a previous husky she had made friends with, but she started eating once we got her another friend.
  19. Just what ever you decide, either will be loads better than science diet. Just keep in mind, when you are a huge pet food company like blue buffalo, it becomes hard to focus on quality instead of quantity in order to keep up with demands. While blue is a lot better than science diet, I've met lots of dogs that have tried it without success. Taste of the wild has a rocky past with their recalls and such, but I blame that on the south carolina plant. Their ingredients are a lot better than blue, and they have a wider range of formulas for dogs that have allergies, whereas blue uses chicken fat in most of their formulas that are supposed to be single protein sourced. It's pretty much up to you, but I've found a lot more dogs that have had more success with TOTW
  20. Have there been any changes to your schedule lately? For example, has he been to the dog park, have you been away from the house a lot more over the past few days or anything like that?
  21. I've had him for about a month now. First time they met, Juno wanted to play with him so bad, but he ignored her. We met at the dog park down the street, and when we brought him back to our house, things suddenly clicked and it was love at first sight! For the first week it was a dream, they didn't fight. Then suddenly cato got tired of her hoarding crap and would actually do something about it, but now things have settled down since they have established that Juno makes all the rules. They're inseparable now, I even bring Juno home from a walk or from the store (if I happen to not take Cato) and she will just love all over him (and when I mean love, I mean beat the crap out of him) but with me she kind of just gives me a quick tail wag and lick and then goes back to cato. We've had some issues with him growling/snapping at my family members when they try to grab him by the collar and move him, but we have been working on that and so far he's doing really well. Honestly, when we got him, he was living in a home with kids where they barely spent time with him and he was crazy hyper. He paced for 2 days. It took a week of consistent dog park and 1 on 1 training and he's almost a different dog now. He doesn't even destroy anything when left alone in the house! (knock on wood)
  22. Yea that's one of the reasons why we decided not to go with raw, the freezer thing was such a pain D: sometimes you can find one for sale on craigslist for cheap, but even then its a matter of where to put it :/
