My name is Jerry. I live in Aurora, Colorado. I just adopted a 3 1/2 year old Alaska Klee Kai/Husky of some type, from the animal shelter in Denver. They were not sure of the breed seeing how he is about 40 lbs. Larger then Klee Kai's usually are I was told. I am aware of how to exercise my dog. Care for him..etc. I am clue less to other issues-being my first dog owned. Joined the forum to ask questions, and share personal stories with my dog as well.

  1. Thanks guys! Yes I get he is dreaming! He must be in his deep sleep. I cannot tell you how much of a relief it is to know how reliable and honest the people are on here. It was great to know that he is ok and nothing medical is wrong with him! Btw....Shadow only comes onto my bed when he is invited. He will not beg, or sit waiting for me to invite him up. He will come into my room, and lay on his little spot on the floor. If I invite him up, he then sits in front of the bed, then waits until I say it's ok to come up! :-P not bad for this amateur trainer here! I try my best, but you guys helped alot! Thank you!
  2. Wow great information! I thank you all for all your time! This is a great forum. Had over 10 comments within a few hours! Thats good to know he's having some fun dreams! Glad to know that he is a Husky as well. So being that he is 3 1/2 and only 40 lbs. . . does that mean that he's not full husky..? or does it mean he's still growing?

  4. Hello, I am new to the forum. My name is Jerry and I am the proud owner of a 3 1/2 year old Alaskan Klee Kai/Husky Mix. I rescued Shadow from the animal shelter in Denver. He was "supposedly" held there for about 2 weeks. The shelter advised me he was some sort of Klee Kai-Husky Mix. Seeing how he is about 45 lbs, I don't see the Klee Kai in him as far as weight, very believable. Maybe a Husky of some sort more or less. His traits and attitude portray a wolf-like animal. Crying, howling, escaping, and extremely primitive, with anything moving that comes in front of him. Sleeping with his ears straight up, he is alert 24/7. Shadow has been at the house for about 3-4 months now, adapting accordingly. I have had a question for a similar breed type owner as me for a long time now. . . When Shadow is asleep at night (for the most part) he twitches and has muscle spasms. It could also be looked at as having a seizure of some type. Below I have posted a link to two videos I have taken as a small example keeping in mind it happens more and worse then what is being seen in the video. Being a new owner of a adult dog, I am stumped on what to do with it. Is this something I should get looked at by vet? I asked about it and she said he was having bad dreams...But bad dreams every single night??? I would do anything to keep my boy in health, as he is my most loyal friend I have ever had. I have a pretty strict schedule as far as feeding, walking, exercise, etc...Just not understanding what would cause this. Please watch videos and a response would be appreciated in the fullest!
  5. Please let me know any advise or answers you have on why my dog ALWAYS has these "muscle spasms" and twitches while he is asleep. EVERY time!!?? Adopted him from a shelter. He is 31/2 years old I was told. They also told me he was a Alaskan Klee Kai/Mix. He is about 40 lbs. Not sure what he is mixed with. Have tons of questions as a new dog owner. Please help! Thank you! This is the link to the video of a example of his issue....
