He is totally deaf. I tested him with an air horn at several different distances. He didn't even twitch an ear. I believe he is excited when he sees the leash. He doesn't seem fearful at all. We do the NILF with all of our dogs and it is working well with Ares except for the vocalization. I will put a link to a video that I made after I first adopted him. In the video he is pulling the leash and screaming. He has since stopped pulling on the leash and will walk with a loose leash but he still screams.

I recently rescued a 1 year old deaf husky. His previous owner never taught him how to walk on a leash. Over the past 3 weeks we have been working on loose leash training and he is doing great but he is still very vocal. He starts screaming from the time he spots the leash until we get home. Anyone ever have a deaf husky? If so how did you get him/her to be less vocal while out and about. Thanks

TAGG is the name of them. The first unit is like 99 bucks for the unit and base. Then 89 for each until. Cost me 400 for all 4 of mine and it is like 10 bucks a month for monitoring. My seem costly to some but for me it is worth every penny for the peace of mind.

I am very paranoid about my 4 dogs getting lost or stolen. I have all mine micro-chipped, they all have Boomerang ID tags, FurCode tags (the FurCode has more detailed info). I also have GPS units that attach to their collars that alerts my phone if they leave their home zone. No that TAGG units do not come off easily, yes if someone steals one of my dogs they can remove the unit but at least maybe I can catch them before they realize what it is but if they get out and get lost I can track them to where ever they are.

Are there harnesses that have a a clip in the front and the back? I have googled with no luck as of yet.

Ok thanks! Think I will order the 50ft. I can still use the same harness I use to walk them with right? I use the Walk your Dog with love harness and it works and fits great.

What is the longest lead you all use with your huskies 30ft or 50ft? We are going to our family's home in the country and I want to get a lead that will allow my huskies to run, play and explore while being on lead. They are great for staying with us and returning when called off lead but I am not willing to risk allowing them to be completely off lead while not in a secure area. We will not be tethering them they will only be on the leads while we are out there supervising them.

It wil be near 100 degrees here by the end of the week. I usually only walk the huskies in the am and then walk the huskies and schnauzers in the evenings. I am blessed that I can walk all 4 of mine on my own, on 2 tandem leashes.... I try to stay on the grass as much as possible but I can't all the time. Is there something I could put on their paws to help protect them from the hot pavement.

What a beautiful girl. It is hard to let them go once they make their way into your home/heart. Good luck. She may have had a rough start in life but you can change her story.
