Good Luck Have you got to view any of them yet? Though if you did get your husky from a breeder, a good one would be there for any issue you have too, just wanted to add that. Some also have older dogs that need re-homing seeing as they did the right thing by taking them back under their care.
  2. It happens to a lot of popular breeds. I really think the public need to be better educated, everyone knows how bad puppy mills are but BYB's still get away with being "Decent and reputable" in many peoples eyes.
  3. I agree it's wrong but unfortunately people who aren't crazy about pets generally wont take much notice if the pups "seem" healthy. I know breeders who falsely advertise yet no one ever took much notice.
  4. Rafeal is certainly an exception to the breed. I'm sure Chula will get better over time. When I first got Rafeal it took a bit of time for him to accept me. 3 1/2 weeks isn't long so I'm sure she (Chula) will come around and want to behave well for you.
  5. If it's something you want and feel like you could cope with the breed after doing some research into it then I don't see why not. As long as you would like a Husky too because it may not work otherwise if your looking after the dog that he wanted. As for the puppy stage, I have never had much of a problem with it. Mine is just over 4 months and he has been an absolute dream apart from a few pairs of destroyed undies and long life milk drinks over the floor lol. I really can't understand why people find the puppy stage so exhausting, mine just wants heaps of cuddles, love and food
  6. I normally don't answer these kind of questions as I don't have a lot of experience, but I'll share my experience with food guarding. I've only had Rafeal growl at me once. At the time he was still a bit unsure of trusting me to do the right thing by him and would have this "Do you need to fuss over me" personality. You yourself would know if Alodia seems to trust you to guide her in the right direction. I think it would help if you established your position more. I never fed him just because he howled, if I was busy he would have to wait a few minutes before I would feed him and I kept myself occupied by stoking him while he ate so it didn't seem like I was "waiting on him". I also hand fed him like you mentioned and then tried adding food to his bowl for him to get used to me. He is now very well behaved. One time the dog roll fell out of the fridge which he grabbed and I was able to take it off him without any trouble, not even a growl. He also will stop chewing or making a mess if I give him a certain tone of voice, no physical intervention is needed. Even a look is enough for him to stop himself from eating something that fell on the floor Though I would never try to take his regular meals off him, I don't personally think that's something that should be done. Hopefully someone has some better advice
  7. Welcome Luna is a very pretty girl, the first thing I noticed was how much white is on her chest. She's a stunner.
  8. Hang on, I'm not to sure now if I had the correct information there about German Shepherds. Will have to check. Some say none are and others say it is the German Shepherd, I really don't know lol.
  9. It truly makes me wonder. Also interesting is the assumption that huskies are closest to wolves, from what I've read though it is apparently German Shepherds.
  10. Sorry, I meant mixes too, but mixes came from purebreds and If it is some kind of Husky mix I meant they too are amazing. The breed had to exist first.
  11. I agree, I think the term "Purebred" makes people forget where dogs come from and that their would be no "purebreds" if it was left to BYB's. Eventually they would be way out of standard and possibly not look much like the breed.
  12. Is what I think every time I look at Rafeal or any other Husky. Even though they're not all perfect, to think that this is what people have created over years of breeding always amazes me, has this thought ever come across to you? After all breeds of dogs would not exist without humans. I'm thankful to all the breeders out their for continuing this wonderful breed. Not a big discussion maker but something I've always thought about.
  13. I don't think I would be able to think about that decision until I'm older and in retirement, I tend to avoid thinking about death. Quite a few people in my family are though. Once I feel like I have lived I could then imagine myself thinking "Why not"?
  14. Good Luck with everything I admire any woman who is able to have a child, I don't think I could ever go though it all lol.
  15. Love the pink, something bright and different Looks great on kizmet.
  16. There so amazing, each one of them.
  17. Aww how is Alodia? I bet she's grown a fair bit from when you first got her (hint hint)
  18. This forum keeps me up longer then I should be...

  19. Your post reminded me also how importent it is to not feed a husky at the table otherwise they will begin to demand you feed them. Those are great idea's, they were both included in the file I got with my husky.
  20. If they have the internet you could include some websites which would be helpful. Things to include also would be not to take the pup out untill he/she has the needed vaccinations to be protected.
  21. This thread brought back the image of my nanna chasing me with a large wooden spoon down the driveway Anyway, I've come by kids who are better behaved then their parents. Kids that just want to be kids yet their parents wont let them socialize and constantly put them down. I really feel sorry for them . Though I will also say these day's kids and young people seem to get everything put on a plate for them and will grow up not being able to cope in the real world.
  22. Looks great, feel sorry for the dogs on top though lol. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
  23. Welcome Looking forward to pictures of your new family member. The people on this forum are great so feel free to ask any questions about Huskies, they always give great advice.
