  1. Nika didn't used to be cuddly with me, it was all for daddy! But now she's very affectionate with pretty much everybody now! Damian never wants cuddles, he just always wants to play! And Asha is the cuddliest dog I have ever met, you can't even sit down before she's on your knee! I put that down to her being a rescue, she craves human attention! She isn't even fussed about the other dogs, just humans - Caity
  2. What, fags? Haha! I sometimes call them cigs, but talking to the OH it's always 'Make a fag!' I realise anywhere else that would mean something entirely different! - Caity
  3. Yeah, it has the same meaning over here, just in a different context! Even though I've grown up with it meaning 'sweetheart' or something else nice and innocent, it still makes me chuckle half the time :') - Caity
  4. Tha makes a better door than a window! - Yorkshire for 'Excuse me, you're in my way!' Brassic - Skint/Low on cash Gedditet! - Something I say a lot to Nika, meaning 'Get it et!' or get that food eaten haha! Minging - Gross Were you born in a barn?! - Used to tell someone to shut the door Wheesht! - Be quiet! Steaming - Drunk Boak! - Used like 'bleugh' when words don't describe how disgusting something is! Our lass/Our lad/Our big 'un/Our young 'un - Girlfriend, boyfriend, older sibling or member of family (usually male), and little member of the family respectively. And what will probably be the non-British people's favourite: Cock - A term of endearment to anyone, from anyone over the age of 45! 'Eyup cock!' - Caity
  5. I think the opposite, I mean I don't judge older mums, but I just wouldn't like to be 55 dealing with a 15 year old! I don't deal well with children, but I wouldn't ever pass comment on a young mum! (And you think that being 21 is young? In our village 16 is an old mum! ) My mum had me at 21, and my brother at 26. Now that I'm 19, we are more friends than anything else, we go out to the pub, go shopping together, we have the same interests, it's great I don't think I would've had that relationship my mum if she was of a similar age to my nan. There's a 16 year old girl in our village with a 2 year old son, and she's doing great! It's not about age, it's about capability, and people need to realise that. - Caity
  6. Ohh that's annoying! None of us here claim to be perfect dog owners, but everybody knows that you've got to do a lot of research on any breed of dog, particularly ones that are destructive when bored! Why don't people like that learn to take advice?? It's not a criticism to say 'Maybe he just needs a few more walks a week?' No one's asking her to take it out 3 times a day 7 days a week. And the food thing is annoying. I know from our pups that changes in food can be disastrous, even if done correctly! I know money's tight but surely the health of her pup should be more important. 'It was cheap and they're pretty?' ... Christ almighty! Yes, they're beautiful, but they need a lot of care! Some people shouldn't be allowed dogs if they're not prepared to put the work in -Rant over- - Caity
  7. Never been a cat person personally, but a Husky-Cat? I don't think I could refuse! He's too cute, definitely picking up tips from his pack - Caity
  8. I got a headache I'm gullible! - Caity
  9. I definitely agree with the compulsory microchipping, and I wouldn't argue with having to have a license to keep our pups, however the compulsory muzzle regulation is a bit extreme. How long before people realise that dog education is something that needs to start with children? They are the most at risk, and they should be taught in schools AND at home, not to approach strange dogs without the owners consent, and to know the correct way to approach a new dog. Many a time kids have come bounding up to our dogs on walks, and the parents have said NOTHING other than 'aww, what a cute dog!!' Fair enough, they're a beautiful breed, but whose to say ours in particular aren't vicious? I always tell people it's okay to stroke them if they ask, but when kids come diving up to them, it excites them, which could quite easily lead to them giving an excited nip on their hands, or a scratch to the face if they jump up! The muzzle regulation means tarring all dogs with the same brush, and it will probably lead to dog owners being looked down on, because although they're a safety precaution, there's a massive stigma attached to muzzles, as though one wrong look at the dog means instant death! - Caity
  10. Oh they definitely can, our 3 have pulled chunks of fur out of each other, then 2 seconds later they're sleeping on each other. It's going to be a different relationship with them not living together, but Nika has a Labrador friend called Bess, and those two have some real 'cat fights', but they never fall out for very long My only suggestion would be to nip Jolene's actions in the bud before they annoy Chula. Whether she's your dog or not, the owner shouldn't have a problem with you taking actions to prevent Chula defending herself again. - Caity
  11. Oh gosh I'm so sorry for your loss I can't imagine what that feels like, my heart goes out to the two of you, and to Kodi :'( - Caity
  12. Some never grow out of it, I have a feeling Damian won't. His Kong toy helps a lot though, I'd recommend one if it gets no better It's definitely frustrating though, we live in a private rented house, and now have cupboard doors with no corners -.- - Caity
  13. You are in no way being paranoid. When we went away in October, my friend and our housemate were dog-sitting for us, and up until that point I trusted her judgement completely. She rang up and asked if her and one of her male friends could walk the dogs. I initially said yes because I know him, but Danny point blank said no, and seeing as Nika and Damian are very much his dogs, he had majority vote to say no. Nika and Damian pull like crazy unless they're with him, and because of Asha's mental state, she won't walk unless you calm her and reassure her about everything, walks take a long time with her. She did it anyways, nothing happened but when we got back, the dogs had got food poisoning because someone had knocked the fridge down to room temperature and their food went bad. So there's always something that can go wrong, which is why I don't think we'll be going away again unless my parents can look after them. Again, as has been said many times already, your dogs, your rules, don't feel bad about it Megan - Caity
  14. I've tried summer fruits flavoured pringles... My friend brought them over from his trip to Palestine I think. They were, in a word, vile! - Caity
  15. I'm begging people to be careful with your fur-babies, lock your doors and keep a VERY close eye on them! Around our area, which for peoples info is the Rotherham/Barnsley/South Yorkshire area, there is a red transit van going around stealing dogs. It's not just Huskies, it's any dog that's labelled as desirable, or even just young enough to use as 'bait'. It's making me sick, and we're on edge ALL the time so please, I don't want to see any other dogs go missing, be careful.
