  1. Maybe it's a husky thing? If you find anything out about it, could you let me know? It's driving me mad! xx
  2. Thank You I do all of that anyway so I will just continue until he is old enough to run along side the bike xx
  3. Haha okay I guess my question was rather unrealistic! I'll have to find more ways to drain his ever increasing energy until he is old enough to go for a run along side the bike Thanks for your replies xx
  4. I spend most of my day with Koda, either playing, walking about or just in each other's company, and he mostly sleeps indoors but when I have to go out for a short while I leave him outside in a secure garden with access to water. I usually always leave a kong toy with him too. My problem is that he keeps dragging his bedding out of his kennel. He has a large plastic igloo type house with a doggie door. I have tried to buy a bed with velcro straps on the bottom of it to keep it stuck to the kennel floor but it doesnt work, and living in rainy Ireland, his bedding always gets wet and muddy! I don't think that it is because he hates his kennel. I crated him as a young pup and he has now outgrown that crate. I considered buying a new crate but I want him to get used to the garden, he enjoys being outside so i figured a kennel would be perfect. I bought it and had it indoors at first to get him used to it. I put his bedding in it, toys, made it a fun place to be by hiding treats in his bedding, giving him his kong toy or chews in it. He was more that happy to sleep in it. I don't understand why he keeps dragging his bedding out into the garden. He does not sit on his bedding when it's outside either and he does not rip it up. I tried taking his bedding away and felt bad because he didnt like sleeping on the bare kennel floor. I am at my wits end and don't know what to do. I have tried to catch him in the act of pulling his bedding out but he is too sneaky. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this?
  5. Welcome I joined today too. This site is brilliant!
  6. I know this may be a silly question but what if it was just at trotting pace? Is it still too much for him? I am happy to wait until at least a year old but am just curious
  7. Oh okay! I was told by another husky owner that from 6 months on it is okay to take them out but I think I will go with your advice and wait longer. Thank you What harness do you use though?
  8. Koda's favourite treat is a stuffed Kong (he likes peanut butter Kong's the most) and LOVES footballs!
  9. Hiya, not sure if this post belongs in this category or not BUT I was planning on using a springer attachment on my bike with my 7 month old husky boy. I have brought him very short distances and also have taken the bike on walks just so he can get used to being next to it/it's noises etc. I know to gradually increase the distance and not to let him sprint straight away (keep a good pace and let him sprint for a few minutes then slow back down)....BUT I don't know how long and how far. What is safe for a pup his age? (Guidelines). He is very active and fit but I don't want to over work him. Also, can anyone recommend a good harness for this? I am not in a suitable area for bikejoring unfortunately so it HAS to be the springer attachment.
  10. Thanks My vet said at 7 months he is about 80% of his body weight and height but that he is probably due another growth spurt soon O_O
  11. Haha yes! He is actually very good off lead for now I only let him off in fenced in/secured areas Course I always have some chicken for him and have 2 older dogs to guide him
  12. Thank you Don't tempt me! I have hundreds of photos haha xx
  13. Hi there I found this site at random! My name is Kathy and I have a husky boy named Koda. He is 7 months old. Here is a summary of my time with him from 1 month to 7 months!
  14. Hiya I just have a quick question about my Husky, Koda I am a first time husky owner. I had the opportunity to rescue a pup. I managed to do some homework before taking him home but am just curious about something! Koda is a black and white, purebred male Siberian Husky and is 7 months old (exactly). He stands at 21 and a half inches at the withers and weighs in at just under 45 pounds. When out on walks, fellow husky owners have commented on his size for his age. I was just wondering what you guys think? Is Koda a bit big for his age or is he more or less on target for a 7 month old male? I have attached a picture of him with my 3 year old Greyhound x German Shepherd who is exactly 26 inches at the shoulder. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
