worried - think jasper is now finding his feet

Hi well everything seems to have been coverd really as has been stated with you're dogs its about finding place in the pack once done they will have their lil battles on and off to try their luck best to let them get on with it may look violant but once sorted they bond.

As to you're neighbours fence and dogs the one thing should prob not do is shout at him no etc the loudnes an sudden noise will just add to him you need to go over to him an claim it as your's an follow him each time he moves just stay on his case dominating him not vocaly but physicly/mentaly an if he moves from fence follow still as if to say ur not needed not sure how this is coming over but he is attacking the fence an having a go at the neighbours because he feels it's his teritory if you claim it as your's he will approach it differently after a litle bit of time an persistance.

would be my approach maybe worth a try but hope it all works out.

Thats a good idea on the fence training, will definately give this a try, he is fine with their dog that doesn't bark, think he see's the other 2 yappy ones as lunch will give it a go next time they are out

Just got back from our walk, just took kaya and jasper, met 6 other dogs and he was fine with them...except 1 who kept growling at him so he growled back but nothing major so I think its having dougle with him for protection thats making things worse. Which is strange as dougle is the biggest softie you could meet and would run a mile if anyone came near him, or he may shake himself to death, but jasper is being submissive to him at the moment so I assume he must be the alpha male (well for now at least hee hee)

That's blinking right! Thing is the neighbours do absolutely nothing to stop their dogs running over and barking their heads off even at 6am on a sunday morning:angry:

If they do intervene its a calm cuddly name calling response. I May just let jasper carry on... they will soon take control when they see his teeth come through the fence:D We have put up a 6ft bamboo make shift fence infront of a low mesh one as I am frightened of them clearing the low one and running off, so this may be adding to the problem as they cant see each other perfectly well, although well enough for mine to run over and have a look when their calm dog is out????

I have little experience other than fostering 5 huskys each & everyone had different personalities & different backgrounds. I found the first 2-3 weeks of each foster hurrendous. Whilst they slept at night they lived on nervous energy & tackled to be dominent at EVERY possible moment.

It does get easier but he needs to learn your house rules, your routine & your dogs rules & routine. It's slot to take in in such little time.

I have in-undated all of them with loads of dogs & they all became socialised very quickly...have to say tho I've found all husky owners really supportive when you explain you are trying to socialise him.

Goodluck..if you can perhaps take a few extra days off work to spend together to develop a relationshi/understanding.

i've had Odin from 8 weeks old, when he was about 18 month i brought Thor home he was a rehome and OMG my house was a war zone. Odin and Thor could not look at each other without a full blown fight braking out, yes i mean teeth, blood every thing. We got to the point do we keep Thor or send him back ? but we'd made a commitment to him we gave him his forever home, so blood r not we had to carry on lol yes we got afew bites.

Now we are so glad we kept going, they are inseperable they eat, sleep an play together they are best mates and hate to be apart.

So there is light hun you will get there, they will work it out xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks soooooooooo much all for all your help and advice. They are much better today, went walking with our friends and jasper just played and played so I am a very happy mummy!! Took him to our vets today too to have his final neutering stitch taken out, he did snap at the vet a little when he took it out and again when he took his temperature, but who can blame him . He only weighs 16kg at the moment so needs feeding up, but the vet gave him a full medical and says he is really healthy. Him and kaya have had 2 fights today but only small ones and although it was hard to stand back, I did, and it only lasted a few seconds. So feeling really positive today, Luckily I dont work, I am a full time doggy mum:D so have loads of time to bond with him and give him all the hugs and playtime that he wants. I am sure him and kaya will become really close, as I type they are curled up next together fast asleep. And they have been playing loads in the garden together since yesterday, so the signs are good.

We are on a WELL WORTH it journey...

I had a problem with Willow and strangers in the street she would bark at them if they was heading straight towards us. When you see someone coming towards you get Jaspers attention holding a treat, all the time he is paying attention to you looking up for the treat in a soft but not excitied voice say good boy jasper the moment the stranger walks past you give the treat. Hope that makes sence. it worked well with Willow every time now she sees someone approching she just looks at me and pays no attention to the stranger I still treat her when they have gone past but dont have to hold the treat.maybe worth a try.

Also with the fence just walk up to it stand in between the fence and jasper say your key word ( I use Hay leave it) in my bossy voice and point him away to move him away from fence. Also had to do this with Willow when people would walk past the fence. Again she just ignors anything on the other side now including dogs. It did take time and patiance but we got there in the end. Hope this helps. May not work as willow has got collie in her so things I have done with willow does seem to take a bit longer with Akia........lol. Stubborn Sibs .......as i am working out.......lol

Yeah you could be right hadn't thought of it that way round. His previous owners said he didn't have any dog aggression and since walking him only with kaya and walking dougle and yogi seperately he has been a little angel......wish I could read their thoughts if only for a day

i always thought that when you pull dogs that are fighting apart you should do it by taking a hold of their hind legs and pulling them away from each other like a wheel barrow. i used to do the collar thing with smokey but he has bit me several times so now i've stopped taking him to the dog park (plus the holding the small dog by the scruff and putting it into shock incident). do you think that the hind legs thing is a better way to pull them apart?
