He defo on the mend today although a little huffy puffy, but getting there. As for walking we found that after 2 days of being indoors we absolutley HAD to get him out of the house, so we take him on different walk route now instead of taking him to his usual which ironically is Lydiard Park (the venue for the next meet). For those going on the 22nd and their dogs like rolling in doo doo, watch out for the swan doo doo near the lake and random fox doo doo in the wooded areas too. Such a shame we are going to miss it, but hey ho, i hope there will be others and maybe another in Swindon :) Take care all XXXXX

Ooh, swan is the one of the worst smelling doodoos:D I think, although fox is also very, very pungent.

He'll soon be back to normal I'm sure, don't know if its been mentioned, but manuka honey in the drinking water really helps as well.

  • 2 weeks later...

Both of mine had this many years ago. They were put on a course of antibiotics and were right as rain in no time. Hopefully Mickey will recover soonsmile.gif

As mentioned about he vaccine only covers some strains. This is the same for the cat flu vaccine, my oldest cat as always been vaccinate but still recently had a bout of the cat flu.

A bit off topic, but how often should they be vaccinated? Jon was given his vaccine at 8 or 10 weeks, I think, but we take him to the dog park regularly.

Here in the US, it's an annual up the nose vaccine. The formal name for kennel cough is Bordatella.

A quick update, as people have been asking - I've been up and down the country with work, and Claire's not been online too much - he's pretty much back to normal now :) I've gone back to running with him in the mornings, and we've started taking him out for longer walks on the long lead as well - he's back to the vets tonight for a check-up (and hopefully all his vaccinations, which are due this week anyway). Hopefully the vet will say he can socialise again, as I think he thinks he's being punished for something, as he's not been allowed to say hello to any dogs we might meet - definitely hoping for that as there's a wiltshire huskies meet this weekend, at a dog park near Lyneham, which I didn't even know existed -somewhere to let him off!! Woo hoo!!!

Thanks for the wishes all, hopefully we can see you all again soon!

Last update then....

Mickey saw the vet last night, he even let him listen to his chest (normally he's not happy as soon as the stethoscope comes out), he said he was fine, he's had his boosters now, as well as his bordatella vaccine, and he can go and socialise again! Mickey wasn't bothered with the needle or the puff up the nose... So we're OK to go to the Wiltshire Huskies meet this weekend - Cat, we'll let you know how the dog park is, and put up some piccies.....

Cheers all!

Vince
