Rob
Gets annoying after a while, you have to add 30+ mins to your walk time. I had some lady probably in her fifties the other day riding past on her bike, she slammed on the brakes, nearly flew over the handlebars while screaming "oh my god, can i stroke your dog" "look at his eyes". I have one woman down the street who comes out of her house every time we walk past so i've taken to going the other way. Ice does attract the ladies though as well as everyone else, some of the comments you get are priceless too.
RobC
Its the same with Nooks when we take him into town, If I stand outside a shop waiting for Anna I usually get everyone coming up to make a fuss of him. Have to watch out though, cause if they are blonde with large breasts, he has to try and pull their tops down. though we do get a lot of kids make a beeline straight for him. The only time he's had pics was when there was snow on the ground. Also get the usual offers of cash ranging from £100 to £1000, and a few requests to stud him. Sarah
LMAO I know what you mean - you can't just have a normal walk without at least some sort of comment
Huskycat
OMG walks can take forever sometimes - especially if we have a couple of fosters with us - walking 4 huskies does attract attention lol and if I had a £ every time someone said 'you need a sledge for that lot' I would be so rich I could retire and save all the unwanted huskies in the world - I wish
CNaylor007
awwwwww, we get the same with Mickey, especially kids, he loves them (a little wary of some men for some reason, must be somthing in the past)......i know he's a cross, but for some reason people are drawn aren't they
RobC
They all do seem to be drawn to them, sometimes its great for them to have all the attention but sometimes it does get a bit irritating. Thats when I start to remember what I saw on some website (Can't remember which) It was on an FAQ about some common complaints about having dogs and one of them Was "My dog is too cute and people keep making a fuss of him in the street. What can I do?" Answer to that one was "Get over it" or that was the general gist of it.
Sid_Wolf
I love it, its soo good for their socialisation, though you have to be careful what sort of person comes up obviously, and make sure that all people are good experiences I used to purposely walk kira into town just to wander round and then chill out on a bench, got her used to people so quickly
Johannah
I agree its great for socialisation however can be a pain if your going out for a quick power walk. lol can make a 20 min fast walk into an hour an a half.
SarahNukka&Shadow
Yep it is like walking with a couple of movie stars walking my two... Specially if we go anywhere really busy you get all sorts coming up to you, although can attract some weirdos too, which is not so nice. But the majority are just nice people who want to stroke and compliment my dogs so I dont mind.. and it also makes you feel better from when you've had a nasty comment said to you coz I find for every one nasty comment you get ten nice comments so I feel better! Oh and yep Catherine exactly the same with me everywhere I go I get the sparklingly original "wheres your sledge!?" And they grin like you've NEVER heard that one before! LOL I have just started saying "wheres the snow!?" right back! LOL
Andy
Kelly had an interview in town, so we took Darwin and Daughtry. Daughtry is very people shy so we thought the socialisation would help. Poor puppy was scared $h!tle$$. . .while she is used to meeting people in the street, being surrounded by a packed city centre full of Tourists, students and locals was a bit overwhelming. We sat in Bonn Square waiting while Kelly had her interview, and it was a non stop parade of Oooh's and Awww's Questions, petting, stroking, "can I take a picture" ?. Daughtry sat tight up next to me and was good, letting people pet and stroke her. Darwin though is a people slut he LOVES the attention, giving kisses and rubbing up against them like a cat. If I'd have sat in the same spot with any other breed, I'd have had one or two people stop to chat, Huskies though, a constant crowd. . . . want to learn to speak to strange people. . .(other than those on the forum. . . lol) Get a husky and sit in a crowded city centre. Lil Miss Bump
yep i agree with this!!! constantly get stuck talking to idiots asking me the usual questions.....think im going to get that t shirt printed for every day of the week so that i can just constantly wear it and not have to talk to anyone!!!!! then there are the kids..........who either back away almost over walls thinking they're going to be attacked or ones that throw themselves on them and hug them! Tikaani&Aiyana
Lol its so true!! I must say I haven't had the 'wheres your sledge?' comment yet, i feel quite left out! We used to take Tikaani to a Sunday market every week and boy did we get surrounded by adults and children wanting a stroke. It was great for socialisation but it does sometimes get on my wick when people/children just come straight over and start stroking them without asking or saying a word to you, like its their right to pet any dog they want! I always compare it to having a baby, you wouldnt just go over a start cooing and touching the baby without asking would you?!
lynnmw1208
It is definitely something to get used to! Whenever we're out with Pongo we always get people who stop and stare and make comments amongst themselves. some people will come up to see him and some people will even slow down their cars when we're on a walk to ask questions lol. seems to be slowing down now that he's big tho, I think he scares some people
davidjk
i was waiting outside a store and most of the employees came out to stroke ours including the manager who wondered what was going on. i am forever telling people they can stroke my huskies they are friendly. Kroush
All Sibes tend to be at all ages! Definitely a matchmaker dog if you're single lol Loki attracts mostly children though haha. unfortunately he's too excitable for them right now, gotta still train him out of jumping and being nippy, but he's still a hyper baby.
