saikocat
None of mine really bark, they tend to make woo'ing sounds and howly moaning sounds instead. My Alaskan Malamute tries though, bless her. She makes a funny face and you can see she's trying to bark, like our German Shepherd would, but it just sounds like she's pushing air out of her nose really quickly. It's like a funny imitation bark.
meeshsalts
Talon woo woos shaer up to last week had never barked but she barked at a woman that came up to her. We were shocked because she had never done this before. The woman wasn't bothered and still stroked her.

proximity
Aska is completely silent except for when I come home from work, the greeting is very vocal until I let them out of their run. She barks at the cat, and at small children when they wont play with her, but only does a proper howl if I sit her down with a youtube vid and howl along with it. Loki joins in on the greeting howls, but only because aska is doing it, otherwise he just barks, quiet but deep. He barks at pretty much anything that moves onto our property. The other morning I woke up to a kid crying and saying "Goggy wants to eat me!" - the neighbours 3 year old had stumbled onto our lawn, Loki was barking at him from the deck
Cassandra & Honey
Mine will both bark and talk and howl lots! depending on the situation. Ocea barks at angry people sometimes . I've noticed her doing it at 2 different people, my dad if he comes to visit. And now an incredibly horrible woman at the beach, which all the dogs and owners at the beach seem to hate too haha. but what i take from that is she picks up on really dark negative energy from people. Ocea witnessed my dad being very violent before he moved out, and this other woman hit ocea... She remembers it. But other than that, their weird attempts at barking only come out when they really want to get at something, a prey animal, or another dog being too vocal and aggressive at our front gate. We get normal husky roooing and howling with everything. dinner time. walk time. saying hi. super talkative girls haha
Sophie's mom
My Sophie doesn't bark at all. She talks alot though, with the typical woooo woooooo .....and when I don't obey her immediately (lol, ya'll know what I"m talking about!) she then starts cussing me with the WOOOOOO WOOOOOOOO!!!! Wallie occasionally will give short nippy barks at Sophie when he wants her to play with him. He doesn't woooo wooooo often though. Kinda odd. He's pretty silent most of the time actually. carriebyrne
Mushu is a proper barker but only when he is scared n that is alot of the time with Men, he goes 'bark bark bark bark arooooooooooo' i feel so bad bout it cos hes been socialised but wot can u do. Wish Ceasar was cheap or that posh English bird ! niko barks a lot and he is only 4 months old! but he lives with a cavalier so i think he thinks he is one too! Alicia
So glad to hear that barking IS common with purebreds. I was reading elsewhere and the site said barking is not a purebred Husky trait. ours likes to bark but only does so when trying to be alpha around us.
