Guys, most replies have been very sympathetic, but a couple have also had a go at the other dog and owner, as Val said, Myshka tried to hump the dog, he didn't like it, so he told her off - obviously he told her off in a very, very big way, but dogs will be dogs. We have read many posts on here from husky owners who have had other dogs approach theirs and behave inappropriately, and have supported them if the husky then snaps, so I don't think its fair to have a go at the other dog or owner, which Val or Steve haven't done.

I'm going to recommend my favourite cure all now Val, manuka honey on the wound will help with stopping infection, as long as it doesn't get licked off by someone else:lol: Ask your vet if it would be okay to put some on, once she's been in this morning.

Karen, +1 for the whole post, but I have picked out the main bits here .... that is why I posted that Myshka "instigated" the problem in a way, she can play with the rest of them, but sometimes she will try & be dominant, very rarely, but she will try. This (and I wasn't there so not 100% sure, but I know my dog) is what has probably happened here, and this time she came off worse. Steve nor I have any problem with the other dog or owner, she probably was in shock & thought her sheepdog wasn't capable of doing that, but I bet it's never come across a husky before! So, as you have pointed out, Karen, we cannot blame the other dog or owner and we don't - things happen. The only thing that sticks in my mind was Steve saying when she brought her dog in to the park, she was fearful of letting it off the lead - whether she knew it was a bit hot-headed, I dunno, it's speculation till I speak to Steve again, but, what's happened has happened & now we have a very sorry for herself Myshka :P

I unfortunately didn't get to read your post about the honey tip before I went to the vets, so not sure about using it - might give them a bell ... they gave her antibiotics & a combined painkiller / anti-inflammatory & left the wound open, she has to go back Friday & they have temp booked a theatre spot in case they think it needs a stitch but they are going to leave it to see if it will scab & heal on it's own, but it is still very wet in the hole :(

I'd like to say I think she had learnt her lesson - but somehow I doubt it!!

And, from Myshka to everyone here,

ow, that's quite a nasty bite. It's a good thing you checked her over and got her to the vet nice and quickly. I would have thought they would put some kind of bandage or dressing on it, but I'm sure they know what they're doing and will have her all fixed up in no time.

Get well soon Myshka!

thanks, guys, she's been having a bit of a cry, Steve or I will upload a video later .... but \I can't get her to take the tablets she's supposed to have. Never had a problem before but this time, she spits them out! Tried them wrapped in meat - no; mixed up in raw egg (crushed) - no; open her jaw, drop them in & hold her mouth closed - no! Yet she drinks the painkiller out of the syringe!! She has lost her appetite for meals, but she has had the 3 pieces of meat, 2 biscuits & the egg  , sure she'll start to feel better & a lot less battered & bruised soon :)
