Taylor Piskorski
The pads on Cesar and Zoey's paws are very rough and dry. In the winter they have little booties/socks that keep their feet protected from all the salt people put on the sidewalks here. Is there a product that anyone would recommend to help soften up their pads?
Kissu & Aara
My breeder has recommended vaseline. May also be allergies, if they're licking their paws a lot.

They aren't licking them a lot, I just noticed today when trimming their nails that they are rather rough! I will try that though, thanks
SarahNukka&Shadow
I know theres a product they use in the Iditarod called Mushers secret (I think) and I THINK you can buy it from culpepers online store but I could be wrong.. personally I just keep a check on my dogs feet and so long as their no cracking I dont worry too much if they do start cracking I give them a rub with a damp cloth and then put some sudocream on them. HuskyCouture
Mushers Secret works great - http://www.snowpawstore.com/supplements/dog-paw-and-pad-care/musher-s-secret-paw-wax.html

Celestial Echo
I have noticed Echo's feet have also been cracky and dry. She has been chewing on them, too. I might order some of that Musher's Secret. Also, what kind of booties should I get her? The ones at petco look very cheap.
Taylor Piskorski
I bought my two Muttluk's Dog Booties from Petsmart. They're around $60.00 for four, and they were recommended to me by a family friend that uses them on her huskies. Here's a link: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753820
Taylor Piskorski
There's just so much salt poured up here in the winter time and for the amount that they're outside, it just rubs their paws raw.
Celestial Echo
Yeah, definitely. It is the same with the salt down here.
Celestial Echo
Thanks for the link. I will definitely be ordering some of those. They look a lot better then the ones they have at my local Petco. We don't have a petsmart around here
Taylor Piskorski
I love Petsmart, it's my favourite store to take the dogs to. Petsmart also has a program that if your order online is over $250.00 you don't pay for 6 months interest free. Might be helpful since there isn't one close to you
Celestial Echo
Is that with a credit card? We don't have any credit cards, so I don't know that we would be eligible for it.
Taylor Piskorski
Actually its their "Bill Me Later" option, so you would get an invoice in the mail and you could pay it at your bank I've seen a couple of websites doing that lately, like the one I buy my contact lenses and glasses from
Celestial Echo
That's awesome. So you can make minimum payments to them instead of paying the whole bill all at once? I might try that out, that would really help us a lot actually! Thank you for letting me know
Taylor Piskorski
Not a problem
HuskyCouture
i know for the bill me later option, you need to be approved for it, just like a credit card.

Sophie's mom
Will that mushers secret be safe for me to put on Sophie's nose? She has low thyroid, and one effect of that is having a VERY dry nose. It's so rough and almost cracking. It obviously doesn't cause her any discomfort, but it seems so sad. I want her sweet nose to be moist and soft and shiny!
Taylor Piskorski
I would imagine you could rub some of that on her nose, or even a dab of vaseline would keep it more comfortable for her, poor girl!

I do put vaseline on it. Problem is she licks it off almost as quick as I can rub it in! BRAT!! lol
lynnmw1208
Don't they lick anything you put on their paws off though? I have a feeling Pongo would do this. I would love to put vaseline on his paws and they're so rough that they will scratch my arm!
Sophie's mom
Yes I'm sure they would lick their paws too. The vet was just a little more concerned about what I put on her nose because it's harder to get it rubbed in before that tongue starts licking it.
