Dave
I have just been out with kodi and a guy stopped me and was asking "is he petable?" I had to ask what he ment as I had not heard of "petable" before. If was asking if he could be a pet? Really?? Of course he is a pet, strange thing to ask. Has anyone asked you that before? Kells xx
nah its just some people say pet instead of stroke!!! its kool dave they just wanted to show love to kodi i dont let people touch my dogs necks i prefer them to stroke the back.....just so they are away from the collar!!! some people (grrrr) have tried to take daughtry by strokin her head and their hands go to her neck where she is attached via collar!!! SarahNukka&Shadow
Crazy general public! Someone was actually stroking Nukka the other day when she asked "are they dangerous?" I was like ????? Yes love, look shes just taken your hand off!! LMAO!?
meeshsalts
It is good that people ask rather than just hug the dog, not all dogs are safe to pet, so it is good to aske the owner if it's safe first.

Ian-&-Tuk
Yeah, that's an odd one. You would figure that since there's a leash on him that would be pretty self-explanatory...
Removed #2
I think sometimes people get so nervous they don't realize what they are saying. Excuse me? is always a good response to get someone to state their request differently!
Dave
O.k. I think people are getting the wrong idea about this. All I was asking was if anyone on the forum had been asked if there husky was a pet This is what the man was asking and he was very friendly

lyra
I don't think he was wondering if your dog was a pet. He was asking if he could pet him. (Or stroke? I've never heard that one used in the context of an animal before...) It seems to be a language barrier issue. I guess from various comments it's common in the UK to ask to stroke your dog? If you asked me that in the US I'd be like, errrr, ok. BUT I get asked if people can pet Lyra all the time. Petable = able to pet/stroke. snssewell
Maybe he thought you are walking your wolf
