A group of husky dogs rescued

It takes a lot to surprise an RSPCA inspector but finding eight huskies who need new homes is not an everyday occurrence.

When their owner in Barnsley became seriously ill, the RSPCA stepped in to look after the dogs.

The Barnsley centre could not take them all so local colleagues around the patch stepped in to help.

Four of the huskies were kept together and were taken to the RSPCA in Chesterfield.

The arrival of four-year-old Sasha, Rio who is 18 months old, two-and-a-half year old Samson and Alaska the puppy meant the branch now had five huskies in its kennels.

Two-year-old Rebel had arrived just a couple of weeks earlier.

Richard Woodward, the animal centre manager, admitted it was unusual to get so many at once:

" We don't see many huskies coming in at all and to have this number of one breed is extremely unusual.

"They're not your average family pet so we are looking for very experienced owners for these dogs and we're going to make sure they're going to the right homes."

One of the dogs, 13-week-old Alaska, has already found a new owner.

It's less than two hours to Telford from Sheffield. Ring them up and ask it can't hurt to try. If you need help moving them we could maybe help.

we would defo be interested but unsure if they would consider us being so far away, not sure how they would do house checks etc???

They won't! They charge between £170 and £300 for a pedigree dog.

Mick

goodness £300 is somewhat steep especially as they dont come with papers (unless of course the previous owner hands it over) but surely if there is paperwork they would go back to the breeder (if a descent breeder) or perhaps organisations such as the RSPCA dont do that??

Yeah I agree it is alot of money. Not sure if they fix their prices or whether its based on the treatment the dog has received whilst in their care. I guess they also have to cover the shelter fees too. better look into our finances before I ring especially with 5 family birthdays in Nov, 2 of which are my hubby and my daughter and with christmas not too far away.
