gilllawton
Hi Eveyone, Has anyone got any ideas on how to make walking Raiden easier, he is getting sooo big now and he pulls like a shire horse. We have tried a halti and a half check collar but no we've had no luck with either, also when we go for walkies we go to the local woods and there are metal gates we have to enter through ( the ones to keep motorbikes out of the woods) and he freaks out everytime, yesterday he very nearly pulled me in front of a car. I love taking him out but its getting really hard our other husky Storm is fab when on her lead. Thanks Gill xx

Andy
Doesn't really matter which head collar you use, I've yet to meet an owner who said their Husky (or any dog for that matter) didn't go loony toons the first few times out. Flipping over, pulling backwards, twisting in circles. You simply have to persevere with them, they never really accept them but they do settle down. They really come into their own when we meet another dog on our walks, then we have one slightly aggressive GSD (Echo) and two excited Huskies (Darwin n Daughtry) When they are all leaping and lunging to try to play or eat the off lead dog then the Head collar really gives you some stopping power. We also do one on one lead training which helps improve them gradually, with the aim of taking them off the head collars. We have three to walk, and couldn't do it without the Halti's, without getting dragged face first through the mud.
lebe03
I agree with everyone else. Polee used to pull like a train and still does occassionally but is best when I use her Halti harness
Removed #2
The Canny has been the only thing that has helped Jackson. He's never been on a leash and a regular choke collar was what he was used to being choked with when tied out so it had no effect. The semi-slip is great for Andy, but he was easy, so it's hard to know. Jackson does get the canny off his nose, and it does go back on easy, but it's made a huge difference. Not sure we will ever be able to walk him without it. Will try to get a video or picture soon.
meeshsalts
Have you thought about a walking belt, lead and harness. Lots of husky owners find these easier than walking with a regular leead, our sponsor at the bottom Country Hounds do a set and you get 10% off the price
BingBlaze n Skyla
canny collar all the way they dont rise up into the dogs eyes, dont yank the dogs neck sideways - which could cause damage and it doesnt rub away the fur on the dogs muzzle either
Sarah
Gill do you want to meet up one weekend and try my walking belt and bungee lines? You've seen how hard my two pull and with the belt and the bungee lines it's easy!
