RJHale
How dare it SNOW in SUMMER and not SNOW where i live!!!! The weather should be severely punished! http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/8186165/snow-falls-across-nsw-and-victoria Australia's alpine regions have been blanketed in snow after unseasonably cool temperatures hit the country's south east overnight. Victorian and NSW snowfields were dusted with snow and the region may be in line for a white Christmas if temperatures remain low. Charlotte Pass in the NSW Snowy Mountains received 10cm, making the ski resort look like it was in the grip of winter rather than part way through summer. "It is absolutely beautiful," said Michelle Lovius, manager of the resort's Kosciuszko Chalet Hotel. "Everything is covered in a blanket of white - it looks like a winter wonderland. "This is such a special sight to see in Australia, especially around Christmas." The resort said snow stopped falling late this morning, but the temperature was expected to remain low, with possible further flurries over the next 24 hours. Victorian Snow Report spokeswoman Maureen Gearon said Mt Hotham 10cm of snow fell on Sunday, and Mt Buller had three to five centimetres. "It is a blanket of white, which is beautiful at this time of year, people are out in their Santa hats taking photos in the snow," Ms Gearon said. "It's still quite cold so we think there'll be a bit of snow around on Christmas Day, which will be a real treat." It won't be the first time people in the mountains have seen a white Christmas, with snow falling at Mt Buller in 2006, just a day after bushfires threatened the resort there. "They had fires creeping up to the edge of the resort and firefighters there fighting it and then they had snow on Christmas Day the next day." Meanwhile wild storms have caused chaos in Melbourne, with lighting ripping four-metre holes in roofs of homes in the city's southeast last night. About 40 people in bayside Aspendale called for State Emergency Service (SES) assistance after storms wreaked havoc in the area about 11pm (AEDT) on Sunday. Val (Zebedee)
In the NW of the UK, we very rarely get extreme weather, hot or cold. I'm 42 & can't remember a year for snow like 2010, deep fall in Jan & Dec, even people who have been on this planet longer than me (yes, there are a few) have never seen this amount of snow, we normally get the talcum-powder sneeze that Louise is getting (love that simile!!) Maybe we are getting your share??
