The Iditarod Trail Committee lost a staunch advocate for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, and its education program. Lois Harter passed away in her sleep last night (December 23, 2010) at the age of 70. She became a member of the Iditarod staff in 1974, and retired from the Iditarod Trail Committee in 2008. Lois was the driving force behind the development of Zuma, the canine journalist, and Zuma’s paw prints. She, and her love for “The Last Great Race on Earthâ€Â, will truly be missed.
