Vomitting up bone?

Recommended Posts

Shadow is feeling abit under the weather today first this morning he had a huge runny poo on the carpet, I thought it was odd because he NEVER goes in the house and now he's vomitted about 8 times now. What I'm slightly worried about is his vomit has pieces of last nights ham bone with the amount of bone that's come out I'd say that's the whole thing back out? He hasn't had this problem before when I've given him bones, obviously this time the bone couldn't be digested but why? Is it normal for dogs to boff up bones? Nikitta had the same bone and she's perfectly fine. Is it something I should be worried about?

Hams are normally smoked and fully cooked. May not be the case in the UK, but is in the US, unless it's a "fresh ham". If it is, however, then the bone would have been a cooked bone, and may have splintered. Just a thought.

Ditto this, as soon as I read 'ham' I assumed that the bone had been cooked - cooked bones will splinter and can be very dangerous.
