Faith Posted February 6, 2011 Report Share Posted February 6, 2011 Took Molly & Codey to their puppy training class on Friday night which they love going to and the trainer is fantastic!! Codey loves her and she is really helping me with Molly. Anyway we were doing some puppy recalling and I had just had my turn with Molly. She had done the exercise perfectly so I was feeling on top of the world. I was walking back across the hall with her to grab some water and somehow I dropped her lead and she started to wonder over to her brother Codey before I could grab it. As she walked passed this chihuahua who hasn't been to the class before and it went for Molly. Molly panicked and tried to get back to me but her lead got tangled with the chihuahua's the chihuahua was really going at Molly. I managed to grab her lead and pull her away and went and sat down with her as she was really shaken. Paula the trainer was fine with it and said it was a pure accident and Molly wasn't to blame. As I sat down the woman next to me started to have a proper go at me that it was all my fault and my dog had started it and that my dog nearly sat on the chihuahua ect. Now this hurt because I was upsat anyway but do you know what made it worst. All the other owners who have becoming to the lessons with Molly since August started to move away from her. One woman was even telling her daughter not to go near Molly because she was "dangerous"!! I felt so sorry for Molly because she hadn't done anything. She had never been involved in anything like that before even when other dogs have barked at her she doesn't bat an eyelid Why is it when something involves a little dog and a big dog the big dog always gets the blame. One thing did make me feel slightly better though one woman came over and told me not to worry she had seen the chihuahua try to bite Molly's back leg as she had walked past and that was what had started it. BingBlaze n Skyla Posted February 6, 2011 Report Share Posted February 6, 2011 *hugs* what a cow! i hope the others dont stop talking to you because of it - how can they not realise that this has only happened now the woman with the chi has joined your class and not before - surely if she was really dangerous she would have done something before now! i hate how people always blame the big dogs!!! hope this doesnt put you off going again - all you can do is hold your head up high n ignore the people who think she is dangerous and prove them wrong - and stay away from the chi *hugs again* Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

There is no way I would stop going the kids (molly & codey) enjoy it so much and get so much out of it I think it would break their hearts to stop going. especially Codey (i think he has a little crush on the trainer lol) That's what I plan to do for my sake and Molly's. I felt so bad thoughmainly for Molly because she is such a softie and doesn't get wound up easily. It's like her character has been called into question now. If I had been that trainer I would not have bothered because of a dog fight (it happens) but I would have been asking that nasty cow to leave and take herself and her little yap rat to a socialisation class before she would be allowed back in with other dogs after seeing HER reaction! Totally uncalled for! Some people just need to realise their dog is NOT an angel, sometimes dogs fight, it happens, and it means YOU as the owner need to work harder on socialising your dog not blame the other dog and their owner! The really sad part is that with an attitude like hers her dog will NEVER get any better, it will just get worse and worse untill it bites HER or her kid and then Im sure it will be straight down the vet to be PTS all because shes got her head stuck up her arse! valhalla Posted February 6, 2011 Report Share Posted February 6, 2011 I was out one day walking my boy Thor, now some of you have met him but those of you who haven`t he is a big 6st boy who is timmed and shy and will walk away from other dogs, however on this day we were waking back home when a small rattish hound came out of a house and went straight for Thor who was on lead, the other dog ran straight across the main road and started barking at Thor in a agressive manner, well Thor was having none of that and retaliated by making a short but sharp snap at it, then the owner came over and started to tell me to keep my boy under control, then I made a short but sharp snap at him pointing out that its his dog thats not on lead and if my boy takes a chunk out of his hound then im in the right as it is your dog out of control and not mine, by this time he had picked his hound up and Thor was sat at my feet as if nothing had happened, bless, well he and his hound went back inside with both tails down and I make a point of walking all my sibes passed his house, just hope this little dog dont do the same with Odin. Like comments that are negative on the forum, in real life, you just have to learn to ignore what some people say. Years ago I took my black lab (now gone many years) to puppy class. At the end of the second class we were having our "final" and had to do a down stay. Well, I dropped his leash and he had not rolled over to one hip (the cue that they will be "staying") but started to walk across the field house. Got half way and something told me to turn around....not only had he gotten up and started running crazy around the field house, but he took half the class with him! Never did listen to everyone's comments, didn't much care. Logan was such a good dog, anxious, friendly, sometimes shy, but that is one of his crowning glories.
