off to emergency vets

well, the latest with Myshka is - things are looking up  at her check up, the vet (who was waiting for us & I was 5 minutes early, they are falling over themselves to be nice  ) said what had probably happened was she had pulled or torn the muscle that connects her back to her femur, he likened it to a footballer with a groin injury . She still can't scratch her ear with her back leg but her short walks every day are helping her get stronger. In between, she is just sleeping, which is great for her recovery, she somehow seems to know that rest is the answer without being tied down

She has to go back for another check up next Tuesday evening, when both top men will be there (this was No2 in command I saw as No1 was in theatre with another pet), they really are trying to keep me sweet after the palava last week, I've never been to a vet appointment & gone in on time, let alone have them wait for me!! :D

Thank you to everyone for your get well wishes, seems the husky love is working wonders again :D

Bit of an update: Myshka is still walking at a bit of an angle, so her hip / back / leg is still causing concern. We were told she may be put forward for an MRI scan but we have been the vets for a check up tonight & they have asked us to keep her to on lead, short walks (so no dog park for at least the next month) and go back in 4 weeks. If she is still not right, they will talk to another vet there that specialises in acupuncture, so we'll have to see how she goes. She's still on the metacam & drinking it like it was a treat & she has been curled up on the sofa for a few hours now - normally, the dogs are not allowed on the furniture, only in exceptional circumstances, but she looked so forlorn after the vets :( She is still there now, fast asleep. She really seems to understand that rest & recuperation are the key & she is being very calm & sleeping (which isn't Mysh, so I know she's off colour). So slowly does it& hopefully in another 4 weeks, she'll be given the all-clear! ;)

Val, if it seems like she's still uncomfortable, despite the metacam, ask about putting her on Tramadol, as well. It is an opiate-type drug that can be given in addition to an NSAID, and really has seemed to help Shad. It's easier on the digestive tract than an NSAID is, as well...

Hope she's feeling better soon! smile.gif

well, this is still going on  Myshka had a check up yesterday. Again, I waited no more than a few minutes & the main man came out to us. I walked Myshka round the waiting area so he could watch her & he agreed with me she seems back to normal. Sha has to finish her pain meds on half dose to see how she goes and make sure they are not masking anything. She will voluntarily jump up into the car & on the window ledge, whereas she has not wanted to do this till about 10 days ago, so she must have her confidence back that her leg / back will not hurt her now. As long as she carries on like this, all I have to do is call the vet & leave a message to that effect, otherwise, any turn for the worse or worries, I'm to call the top man's personal mobile number  think they stll feel they did wrong at the beginning

So, hopefully, nearly 4 figures worth of vet fees later & it looks like the end is in sight
