Staceybob
Hey guys, The Butchers just given me some raw ribs and pigs trotters, but I don't know what to do with them ='D I'm a vegetarian so having these trotters and ribs lying around with blood on them is creeping me out lol. She's had cooked ones before from the butchers but never raw. Am I best cooking them or just giving them to her raw? If they need cooking, how do I go about cooking them ='D Stacey xxx
Rich & Kody
I thought it was always raw if on the bone. Once you cook the bone you need to strip the meat so it wont splinter.
Staceybob
That's what I thought Richard, I was just concerned about like bacteria and stuff because I know eating raw can make us very ill so I'm just wondering if she'll be ok with it? I wouldn't want to make her ill. Stacey xxx
Rich & Kody
I'm sure its fine, They recommend to feed Raw chicken. Kody eats raw pork / chicken & beef. Have to be careful now as he rejects the normal food waiting for the meat
Sid_Wolf
raw is fine hun, bacteria wont affect her think about it, if the butchers give you cooked ones, they put them in the plastic bag, you take them home, they heat up and start to sweat, by the time you give it to her its got loads of new bacteria on it, the only way it wouldnt have bacteria is if you gave it to her while it was piping hot, and of course she couldnt eat it if it was lol

Mistyrayn
RAW... its good for them.. plus you loose some of the nutrients they will gain by cooking them.
GemSteve&Loki
Just seen this post - bit late but we gave Loki and Lexi a trotter each last week - I've never seen them so quiet and content with a trotter for the best part of an hour!! erythrox
raw is best, if you cook them the bone is then converted into a heightened state of hydrocarbons so in effect you are giving your dog a half digested feed, their system needs to break it down from raw instead of cooked or half cooked. hope this helps
KERNOWHUSKIES
Ive had bad experience with trotters.
