Such beauties....if they are always off lead, why are they wearing harnesses?

Suppose it's just easier than taking them on and off.If I take them out by myself with my girls,I tend to use leads, cos I find Thunder too strong with his harness, but then he pulls and keeps choking himself.Jon prefers the harnesses but I must admit, they walk really well for him and don't pull. With me and the girls it's a different story!

Great pics - looks like you all had a great time! :yahoo:(Wish I had a beach to take my guys to...:()

Beaches are great if you remember to check the tides first!! We all piled into the car last week, arrived and was rather suprised to find that there was no beach!!.Oops!.Had arrived when tide was in!!!.Our beaches are very tidal. We had to have a cliff top walk instead ,which was nice, but damned sheep everywhere,so no off lead for Tundy boy that day,and just limited for Sass and Mystie.Lycan couldn't hurt a fly at mo so he had a great time running about, but kept getting a bit too close to the edge of the cliff for my liking!!.:eek:This time we checked the tides on line first, and timed it perfectly!!Nothing like learning by your mistakes!!:D

We are quite lucky, this particular beach(Ogmore by sea),is a 40 min run from us,and it's dog friendly all year round. It's really big,and fairly quiet too midweek.Just have to make sure you check the tides first!!.;)

Any beach I might find to visit - I'm not going to have to worry about tides! ;) Even with the Great Lakes here in the US, there isn't a whole lot of tide action, and living in the middle of a huge continent, I'm not likely to get to any ocean, any time soon!:(

BEAUTIFUL PICS!:goodjob: I wish our pup could be off lead, but I just don't trust what he'd do. A bank teller is used to seeing our pup because we take him everywhere with us, and she said how wonderful it was to see him after losing her 9 yr old Husky, she let him off lead and hasn't seen him for 5 weeks:( Glad you have yours trained so well-do they listen better when calling them because there is more than one and they have the propensity for following the others do you think?

Are there any lakes around you, Gigi? We have a bunch that are brownish but one that is blueish green and has hundreds of springs feeding it where we take ours-the river sometimes has been known to have leeches, so we go to lake Maxinkuckee with our 2 boys:D

Gorgeous photos ...Karen what time was it when u went? We got back today about 5 ! 63 miles one way lol Air con blowing and I was still gasping...what a beautiful day it was ! I am going to post the photos now. It's a frikin nightmare trying to take photos as Sookie is a VERY bad girl on her lead. I am training her now but OMG :banghead:Diesel isn't bothered but I don't dare turn her loose in such a populated area she would go nuts lol People freak her out still just a bit so I have to be careful. As long as I am with her she is ok though.....I got sun burned! :cry1:

We got there at exactly 12.20pm,which was low tide.Beach was pretty much empty except for a few fishermen. We walked all along it and it was really quiet at the bottom end,but we did see another husky and malamute that were also off lead on the beach!!Not suprised you got sunburnt though,it was quite a scorcher today!!:rolleyes:Silly Billy, where was your sun cream??!!

Thank you.:D Our oldest husky Mystie (Just turned 3) is really good off lead, and listens well to us.The others tend to follow her.Sass is also good off lead, and I trust them both. The pup,Lycan, doesn't even follow them at present,he sticks close to me,but he's only 3 months old.Thunder is the most cloth eared ,and because he is an unneutered male,he is always interested in other dogs,so we keep an eye on him.I do wonder if he would be better neutered. We have let them off lead since they were pups,so they don't know any different. I don't believe they would just mindlessly run off.We walk them through a big wood every day,and although they chase things, they come back. There is a vid on Utube about a pack of huskies, called the Lowland pack. They are the ones you would NEVER let off a lead.Ours are nothing like them,so I think it's all about individuals too. Whether it's right or wrong ,it's what we do,and I suppose only time will tell.:)
