Dave
Hey everyone, so i didn't put this in the 'steam room' section because i don't really feel like ranting. My neighbours threw a bone over into our garden this morning and Kodi ate the entire thing! I don't know the size etc. as i am at work, but Tracy just told me what has happened. I will be going round later today to discuss throwing stuff over with them as it isn't the first time, but... What i would like to know is if there is anything I should be looking out for with him? Health wise... Being sick, bleeding, etc. as i believe he ate it all so that is potentially a LOT of sharp bits!
Matthew
Let's hope it's chicken good luck, some people are just rude and have no concern for the meaning of "your dog"
Storm Angel n Auroras Mum
Oh dear poor Kodi. I googled: Since there isn't much that you can do after the chicken bones have been ingested by your dog, you simply need to monitor him closely for the next few days. Keep checking his stools to see if the bones pass. Watch for blood in the stool, or any signs that he's straining to defecate. You should also keep an eye on your dog's temperament. If he becomes moody or listless, take him to a vet immediately. Perhaps the best thing you can do is try to "cushion" the tiny bones inside your dog's tummy by overfeeding him a little more over the next couple of days. Cooked rice (that's completely cooled first) is ideal, because it is gentle on a dog's stomach and digestive tract. You could serve up a small helping of plain white rice alone, or mix some cooked rice in with your dog's normal dog food. Then, you just wait and see. Chances are, everything will come out fine in the end. bread will also help my dog did the same thing luckily my bffs dad is a vet and he said 2 give her some bread I would have thought he may have the runs for a few days, and if he wheezes or anything worries you take him to vets immediately. In fact if ti was me I would most probably anyways for safety. But im a worry wart.
Andy
If it was a cooked bone then yes potentially it might have splintered as opposed to just crunching and breaking. I would give them hell, not only for throwing their trash over your fence, (but it could have been poisoned.) Watch for blood in the stools, that will be an indication that there might be splinters swallowed and lodged in the intestine or stomach. It might simply have been them thinking. . . "Ooooh, next door has a big dog, and I've seen it eating bones before. . . .Here pooch have this nice big bone from our Sunday roast" Still, I would be having harsh words. Dave
Thanks for the advice, the neighbours are as @Andy said. They love Kodi and usually throw dog buiscuits over in the mornings which i have no problem with. I will ask them nicely and explain the harsh realities to them and i think this will do the job... If not it will be followed up by harsh words. I think i will get Tracy to feed him some bread now...

Tan J P
hope Kodi is ok i would have a word with your neighbours whilst its very nice of them to 'care' i think i'd be asking not to throw anything at all over in future including the dog biscuits. kodi could end up eating anything when outside thinking its ok and too many treats can have 'bum problems' and obviously you are not there to monitor how much they are giving! with bones, many people just assume....dog=bones,and are oblivious to the fact of raw or cooked differences
